The future of software is awesome: my dot has access to o11y dashs for @withandeo customers - it picked up a signal this morning and proactively created a branch with the fix which is now in production.
Isn’t this like asking someone who has done suborbital space flights today in 20 years if it was worth it (probably it is!)?
I don’t want what is common today, but what @steipete is doing now.
When code is no longer the moat, you give it away for free and let your customers do whatever they want with it.
Then you can go and build your moat by proving value on top of that.
An upside of people building products due to "ai psychosis" is that it becomes a great way to know who has enough product taste, drive, and agency to make things happen.
In the last couple of weeks I've met at least 6 people who I'd hire right away.
Shopify’s App Store review team coming up with some creative names in their test stores. Is it good news to see Gabriel coming after Lucifer?
If you like coffee and Dynamic Workers, get a custom recommendation from Press Coffee and experience both together 🍊☕️

PSA for Shopify Devs: If you want to generate a storefront access token using the new App Home UI extensions then you need to do it in your own server.

Shopify Admin GraphQL

When Dynamic Workers, Facets, Shell, and other cool tech came out at Cloudflare, it was obvious to me what kind of things this unlocked. It was also adjacent to some problems I've been thinking about for a while.
I took a bet on it, left my dream job, and jumped all in.
Excited to share that @tenderprompt is no longer a zero-ARR company and it's growing.
Shopify merchants want to vibe code, we are making it safe and easy.

@liam_at_shopify @dave_cameron hey guys! Is there a way to get some guidance on apps that are PaaS ? I’m building a PaaS that gives merchants an ai agent that helps them build the backend, database, infra, etc so they can deploy their custom apps safely.. kind of like Sidekick but it also provisions a backend/db which sidekick does not.
My application was suspended because “you can’t ask people to use custom apps” but that’s the whole core of the idea, merchants are already building custom apps and vibe coding, putting secrets in their code etc, this gives them a platform with all the best practices baked-in. It’s like heroku for custom apps built inside Shopify.
I explained this in my application.
posted to the community forum too community.shopify.dev/t/guid…
My app got reject caused you can't ask people to install an agent on their machine to interact with your app.
So I brought it back and put Pi on it.
This week there has been a lot of talk about vibe coding Shopify apps. I just wrote a post about the hidden cost of doing it.

Why hasn’t GitButler caught on yet?
Instead of forcing your coding into workflows/branches, you put all your code in the same workspace which then you integrate back to main via parallel or stacked branches, but you never think about it, the tool and agent do it for you
Butler and agents take care of it. You never think about branches during dev, you are always on the same workspace.
I’ve been using it almost exclusively for 3 months and it is liberating, every time I touch a project still on the legacy Git flow, I feel like a Neanderthal.

Over the past 20 months, I have been building my own software factory. My budget is blowing up and I can’t control the situation. I do recommend everyone to explore their own ;)
