If you work in fisheries management and interested in the new WTO agreement, @christinemcdan and I have a short policy brief on the agreement and weaknesses to focus on in implementation. Glad there's an agreement, but it could be better. Happy to discuss: mercatus.org/research/policy…

A short lesson from Dr King on how farming and land policy furthered economic and racial inequality. Hadn't heard this speech before.
#Juneteenth with #MLK My father talking about the economic injustice of America not distributing land to Black people. Racial injustice and economic injustice go hand in hand. The continuum of justice for Black people MUST include economic justice/reparations. #Juneteenth2023

Happy Juneteenth America! I love this speech from Barrack Obama celebrating 150 years since the passage of the 13th amendment. It's worth taking a minute to read in full on why this is one of our most meaningful federal holidays. thebulwark.com/juneteenth-wh…

Hi fellow Brits. If you want the trappings of empire (e.g. the Commonwealth and Monarchy) then it's best not to joke around and be insulting about the countries that are only voluntarily sticking around. Isn't "be polite" something close to a national motto?

Great video on a serious issue explaining what's happened to me over the last few decades. If we want a society where everyone prospers, we're going to need to address this in our politics and policy.
This is an outstanding and important video. Please watch.

"yay, SCOTUS will deal with fish! Oh wait... And use it to gut all federal rulemaking and take us back to the 1930s? Shit"

Concur with this assessment. The strength of liberal democracies' militaries is enhanced capability through making a place for the best of ALL of us, not just straight white men. We have all volunteer forces in representative democracies that need legitimacy and effectiveness.

One of the best parts of my work at the farm is hanging out with these little fellas at work each day 😁
Our chicks are getting ready to meet their fans! Come meet the newest members of the farm next Friday and Saturday. You can sign up to be an animal care volunteer to raise them. Also, join our goat programme to help milk the goats arriving in may! Application in our profile.

The Montana GOP is refusing to let me speak for the rest of the legislative session. I was elected to represent my 11,000 constituents. No silencing tactics will deter me from advocating for my community, my district, and all Montanans. My light is on and I am ready to speak.

Important grounding comments on AUKUS from Penny Wong - if you want to understand the agreement from a strategic sense, this is the place to start.

NEW: I’m not sure people fully appreciate how dire the US life expectancy / mortality situation has got. My column: enterprise-sharing.ft.com/re… And some utterly damning charts. 1) at *every* point on the income distribution, Americans live shorter lives than the English.

A mesmerizing display of lights over Northern California on Friday was caused by the re-entry of flaming space debris into Earth’s atmosphere, experts said. The chunks of communications equipment had been jettisoned from the International Space Station. nytimes.com/2023/03/19/scien…

No basis for this whatsoever, but I agree with it. Believing you have agency does make you feel empowered, even if the circumstances are the same.

Sharply deteriorating mental health conditions for teen girls. People talk about this but it still strikes me as under-discussed.

I would just like everyone in the country to look at this chart and agree it represents a problem.
