I've built my PhD research around the Twitter API, and today's announcement has saddened me. Arguments can be made that access to such a rich dataset is invaluable and researchers should pay, but those one-off social science projects without funding will seriously suffer.

Oops! I did again, @washingtonpost: I created a Twitter account pretending to be @SenMarkey (with his permission) and applied for Blue “verification.” And once again, Twitter took my $8, asked zero questions and gave the fake account a blue checkmark. wapo.st/3VHo2Qg

Alright, so it looks like 2fa has been shut down. Making some backup codes, but if I get logged out, I may not be able to get back in. Will be posting a How To Reach Me stub and pinning it shortly. This is crazy.

Never actually counted the total number of services. But number required to generate the home timeline is closer to 200 than 1200. (go/zipkin/b9193db194f0abab)

We lost fewer seats in the House of Representatives than any Democratic president’s first midterm election in at least 40 years. And we had the best midterms for Governors since 1986. The American people spoke.

In the 3 years I investigated Tesla for @businessinsider I learned that @elonmusk doesn’t play 3D chess to get things done, he plays whack-a-mole. That’s what you’re seeing here.

With Twitter's change in ownership last week, I'm probably in the clear to talk about the most unethical thing I was asked to build while working at Twitter. 🧵

Dare is probably on the money: the team - under the threat of “ship else you’re fired” prob had no time to handle edge cases, testing & didn’t do the phased rollout they did in the past. Welcome to the new Twitter, where promises are grand, execution is sloppy (but fast)

So, the Accessibility Experience Team at Twitter is no longer. We had so much more to do, but we worked hard! There aren't very many people that have had the opportunity to make such an important global platform like Twitter accessible, but we understood the mission.

Just over 1 week until @github Universe. So many exciting announcements on deck. But in the lead up, I want to recognize some of the tiny wins we've been shipping at warp speed in recent weeks. Tiny wins = big impact.

120 miles. That’s how far pregnant people in Columbia, Missouri are forced to travel to access abortion care. But look at this crowd. Every single person here is ready to fight back, knock doors, and #RoeTheVote in November. We won’t stop pushing.

First: I’m pardoning all prior federal offenses of simple marijuana possession. There are thousands of people who were previously convicted of simple possession who may be denied employment, housing, or educational opportunities as a result. My pardon will remove this burden.
