The Namesake is one of my favourite movies & seeing this post made me uncomfortable. So I looked it up.
Has Tabu ever made a statement about being uncomfortable during any scene? No.
Has Mira Nair ever said anything about it? No.
Tabu and Irrfan went on to work together later in Talvar & Life of Pi. If there was any discomfort, they would not have kept choosing to work with each other.
This post is a blatant lie made to farm engagement. And it is worse because it is about Irrfan, A legend &someone who is no longer here to defend himself.
Do you know how many retakes Tabu took for this scene? 😳
When the director first asked Tabu to do this scene, she refused. Irrfan Khan reportedly requested her for a whole week before she finally agreed.
She was clearly uncomfortable with the scene and took 10 retakes to complete it.
You can even notice how uncomfortable Tabu looks while doing it, while Irrfan Khan seems completely comfortable.
This is the life of actors, guys! They sometimes have to do things they're not comfortable with.
