In America, the hard right hates Indians for their skin color and Hindus for their religion. The hard left hates Indians for their success and Hindus for their religion.
The vast middle, still the majority of America, does not hate skin color, actually appreciates success and respects Hinduism (via Yoga, meditation) but it is shrinking and politically lost.
The rise of extreme politics and the shrinking of the middle, are directly caused by the extreme bubbles that have played out in the financial and economic sphere over decades. Extreme increase in wealth inequality is another consequence of those bubbles and a direct cause of the extreme politics.
This was understood and predicted by many deep thinkers who have warned about this exact development for decades. But once an economy gets bubble addicted, it is very hard to wean off. Bubbles even get celebrated as "capitalism" and "wealth creation". Society gets drunk on bubbles.
i have known this at least since the days of the Global Financial Crisis of 2008-9 because I was reading those thinkers.
As a result of that understanding, I made a bet in our California office back in 2016 that Trump would win and my American colleagues almost uniformly disagreed with me (California itself voted over 61% for Hillary Clinton).
The next American election could very well see a hard left swing where a committed socialist wins. I hope I am wrong and the sensible middle prevails and we end the bubble era peacefully.

The latest episode in Sino-American relations once again shows that Washington has completed a paradigm-level shift in its alliance strategy—from the chess-piece model to the blood-bag model.
In other words, U.S. policy has moved from mobilizing partners like chess pieces to check China, to siphoning gains from the very same partners like blood bags while keeping China manageable and negotiable.
Trump knows perfectly well what happens if he threatens China: Beijing will hit back with equal, if not greater, force. So he goes after blood bags such as India to extract what he desires, while still pretending that the US still dominates.
That is precisely why the Trump administration announced a further extension of the bilateral trade truce—originally set to expire in November 2026—shortly after he signed the Lindsey Graham Russia sanctions legislation.
I don't think it was in the cards for him to go after China under the legislation. The question for me has been whether he will go after India, which he may believe is a softer target possessed of far fewer retaliatory options.
To be blunt about it, the zeitgeist of the past 15 months has been to try to coerce India (which for several months at the end of 2025, was tied with Brazil for the highest American tariffs imposed on any country) while demonstrating repeatedly that the threats to China are mostly rhetorical. Peter Navarro at one point called Ukraine "Modi's war." Nobody in the administration has ever tried to call it "Xi's war." And various of Scott Bessent's comments on the India-EU trade agreement and India's Russian oil purchases have gone down poorly in Delhi.
This U.S.-China summit in Washington will have reinforced the suspicion in India that it is New Delhi in the crosshairs while Beijing keeps escaping U.S. scrutiny. If you rewind the clock to Trump's 2025 inauguration day, that is decidedly not what most people would have expected.

India has a weird problem.
We are producing solar and wind power faster than our grids can handle.
Which is why solar and wind farms are often told to produce less of it.
Batteries can save that energy. But most of them use lithium, and India imports most of it.
This is where Rechargion Energy comes in.
They've built a sodium-ion battery.
It uses sodium - the same element that's found in your salt.
Sodium is far more abundant, and Rechargion's battery doesn't need critical materials like lithium, nickel or cobalt.
Now, there is one major trade-off though.
Sodium-ion batteries have a lower energy density than lithium-ion batteries, which basically means they store less energy for the same weight.
So they aren't as well suited for things like long-range electric cars.
But for a giant battery sitting next to a solar farm or connected to the electricity grid, weight matters a lot less.
What matters more is how much the battery costs, how long it lasts, and whether India can manufacture it at scale.
And this is exactly the problem Rechargion is hoping to solve with their sodium-ion batteries.
The company is already sourcing 80-85% of the materials used in these batteries from India and they are planning to increase that number to 90-95% in the next few years.

Paired with rooftop solar, it powers an outdoor display and shows sodium-ion storage in a real-world renewable setup.

I used to think the Vishvarupa scene in the Gita was simply about Krishna revealing his divinity to Arjuna. I think there is something more unsettling in it.
Arjuna asks to see reality as it truly is. And when Krishna shows him, he is terrified.
That has always fascinated me. We say we want truth, but perhaps we really want a version of truth that the human mind can comfortably hold. Arjuna discovers that reality, seen without our filters of familiarity and scale, can be overwhelming.
Maybe wisdom is not merely seeing more. It is becoming capable of bearing what you see.

India has been downgraded.
China has replaced India as relationship that will define the 21 st century.
A G 2 scenario being projected.
But then, US geopolitical and foreign policy perspectives can change raising issues of trust.
US described the India relationship as a defining one in the 21st century when it was wooing India.
Now it is wooing China.
India would want a strong relationship with the US but it has other ties it must continue to cultivate in order to redefine the governance of the international system.
