The resources in the world can reach everyone in abundance, but humans are greedy and corrupt. They cling to excess and deprive others.

A phishing attempt for @OpenAI subscription. This is easy as the sender email is easily identifiable and the link goes to a page hosted on s3. However, he added a fake @Cloudflare bot detection page in-between to trick users into a false sense of authenticity. In a nutshell, no matter how authentic an email appears, always verify these two. 1. The sender email 2. If it links to another web page, the domain of the webpage you're redirected to. Scrutinise and verify before submitting any sensitive information online.

I'm sorry, but you still have to think itsallaboutthebit.com/i-am-s… - I wrote a blog post in the context of recent "you don't have to read code anymore" discussions triggered by DHH's Campfire rewrites in Rust and Elixir

BUILDING AFRICA’S NEXT GENERATION OF GLOBAL DIGITAL COMPANIES FROM NIGERIA Nigeria has the talent, enterprise, and ambition to build companies that can compete anywhere in the world. Our responsibility as a government is to ensure that Nigerians do not have to leave Nigeria or rely on other jurisdictions to realise that potential. For too long, some of our most promising young entrepreneurs have felt compelled to establish their companies and intellectual property abroad to access global capital and markets. I do not accept that this must remain the case. I want the next generation of African technology, finance and service companies to be built, headquartered and scaled to the world from Nigerian soil.

Someone just built a Colima plugin for visual studio @code. marketplace.visualstudio.com…
The remote editing capabilities of @zeddotdev is just as seamless as @code. VS @code still has the edge with plugin support and customizability , but @zeddotdev is insanely fast.

Somehow, brew.sh has become arguably the most reliable way to get the latest software tooling on Linux. I can understand it's success on Darwin, but becoming a viable option on Linux is ironic.

You can't secure a project until everyone agrees where its trust boundary is. 🔐 #FrankenPHP embeds #PHP inside a #Golang and @caddyserver server, so that boundary spans Go, C, and PHP. We wrote its security model: what's untrusted (the request), what's trusted (the operator and the deployed code), and which attack surfaces FrankenPHP itself owns. For the @thephpf's Ecosystem Security Team, this is what turns our audits from guesswork into something scoped. A threat model is a security feature.

"The easier it gets, the less desirable it becomes."
The internet gave every single person on Earth access to all of MIT's lectures for free and I think most of us would agree that it hasn't made us that much smarter. I don't think the main problems and solutions here are technological.

I don't get this @claudeai, you have a desktop app that is garbage and unusable and yet still block third party apps from providing a better experience.

One would think that Claude Code and Codex would showcase their agentic coding skills by having native apps on all OSes. But no, we get half baked electron wrappers that are not even available on all platforms. Yet we keep getting told AI can now write all the code.

You used to be able to just create a Native GUI App in 10 seconds. No Electron, no Game Engines, no Web frameworks. Just a lean fast .EXE produced in seconds. Works on any Windows machine WITHOUT Internet connection. Software Development is actually going backwards.

The M1 macbook was crazy fast when it got released, and everything opened in an instant. Today, M4 pro would feel sluggish with the so called liquid glass. I never asked for liquid glass, I only want a fast and reliable machine.
Hot take: this is why Apple kept their base Macs at 8GB base RAM for so long. Same thing for iPhone. Forced app developers to hyper-optimize for many years, leading to a leg up on Apple’s competition.

In November 2021, a zero-day flaw in a widely used software library called Log4j allowed hackers to take full control of compromised devices through a simple application interface. This event crossed into mainstream headlines and became known as Log4Shell. Governments and companies spent billions to patch the vulnerability, upgrade IT systems, and contain the damage. Developers in Europe are central to maintaining the critical systems we all rely on, managing current security risks and addressing new challenges emerging in the age of AI. That’s why @github is committed to securing the digital supply chain by strengthening the open source projects that underpin the internet and the AI stack. Through Microsoft’s new EU Security Program Commitments, we’re investing in open source security with the GitHub Secure Open Source Fund—supporting the projects that keep the internet and AI running.
