Throwback to the moment the whole hall sang. 🎷
Last Saturday, after the keynotes, saxophonist Temilayo Abodunrin, who has been playing since she was 12, took the stage with Dr Obiageli "Oby" Ezekwesili’s (@obyezeks) favourite song.
Within moments the room was singing. The graduates left their seats, came to the front, sang along, took photos, and many of us found ourselves in tears of joy.
After ten months of late nights and hard assignments, this was the Class of 2026 celebrating together.
The future is here.

We need laws that establish and criminalise Technology-Facilitated Violence Against Women
The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has condemned alleged cases of child abuse reported in Abia and Anambra states, including Technology-Facilitated Gender Based Violence (TFGBV) involving the recording and circulation of abuse against children, warning Nigerians against normalising violence against children or further harming victims by circulating videos and images of abuse online.

She spent her career fighting the systems that excluded people. Now she runs the school training the leaders who will fix them.
Dr Abiola Akiyode (@abiolaak) is a gender justice lawyer who took the fight to the institutions themselves, and didn't stop when the change got hard. She's proof that you don't have to wait for the system to open its doors; you build the doors.
This is a national search for the best of us to join politics.

- There is no evidence that liberal/routine episiotomy benefits the mother or baby.
It actually increases severe perineal tearing. The World Health Organization and FIGO advise against liberal/routine episiotomy in non-instrumental births because of this.
- The WOMAN-2 paper showed that
(a) episiotomy is done liberally in first-time mothers in Nigeria (over 60% of women) and ,
(b) episiotomy may double the risk of postpartum haemorrhage.

- Improving episiotomy practice could improve maternal health outcomes in Nigeria.

@nrhjn many women may not be able to opt for another option at the point of childbirth that is why during antenatal classes questions and answers must be freely available for informed decision @HerStoryOSNG @healthstyleplus @PPFNigeria @folasadeoyebimp @kikeoduyebo1 @kmc_lasam

Just finding out that episiotomy is not recommended by WHO. So, why do doctors still cut women during delivery?
Many women carry scars they shouldn't. Routine episiotomy is still given to women in Nigeria during childbirth, despite WHO's recommendations against it.
Cutting women randomly during childbirth is medical negligence. It is not a badge of honour for women to wear.

The government must investigate the death of that woman.
Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi retweeted
Femicide isn’t just statistics. There are real women dying. I hope they thoroughly investigate the death of Mary Habila
Femicide is real, and every suspicious death of a woman deserves a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation.
The reported death of Mary Habila raises serious concerns that cannot be ignored or dismissed. We owe every woman the dignity of truth, justice, and accountability.
We call on the relevant authorities to conduct a credible investigation, including a comprehensive autopsy and the prompt release of findings.
Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.
No woman should become another statistic. Every life matters. Every death demands answers.
