6 months sober, back in the gym and recording podcasts for @ability_about this month - It is never to late to show up for yourself. Be kind, build back up each day and go after the dreams you believe in. Grateful for life and excited for what’s ahead 😃

Last year from January to may I got to 138 days of workouts, the loss of someone I considered my best friend stopped that run. The grief & pain was too much to continue but I knew James would have been gutted to know I stopped. Promised myself I would surpass last years effort and it just so happens day 150 lands on James’s birthday! Kept going for you brother, we got it going again, love and miss the kindest guy I’ll ever know, hope you’re having a party up there❤️

Grief takes many forms. Anger, sadness, everything in between but eventually you know all they would ever want is for you to keep going. James would be proud to know I’m still here, trying to develop the sport we love every day. This was his Scotland debut, a forever moment I will never forget. This time last year was the last time we met, were he came to watch Scotland at Largs. I had a great game and he cheered me on the whole way. Since then I haven’t been involved with the national team but the day I put that Scotland shirt back on I know he’ll be watching, smiling. Grateful we lived the dream together, don’t be angry they are gone be grateful those special memories happened and stay in it, for you, at peace doing them proud. Love you brother❤️

I made it to day 132 last year working out every day, then life hit me with the most difficult times I’ve ever had, it’s a struggle to put into words how hard it has been to not give up completely. The feeling when you know you don’t want to keep going is soul destroying and we deserve better than that. All options in life are hard, so know that you are worth putting in the effort to make it what you want, to work for the life that gives you happiness, joy. I didn’t know if I would ever make it back in the gym, back trying to make some sort of difference. It is never too late to start again & I will do everything in my power to keep posting these in the hope that it helps someone to KEEP ON GOING❤️

Just want to say how amazing this guy is. His focus and determination shows that nothing stops you doing 10k apart from yourself. Keep going mate. This guy should be an inspiration to anyone that wants to start and keep going. #mentalhealth #smashinggoals
Day 3 - 10K smashed✅
Focused, determined to show my best. It’s a privilege to still be here and have the chance to grow. People will do all they can to put you down, but the more you keep getting up, the stronger you become💪🏻
Enjoy your Saturday night😃

Appreciate all the lovely messages for my interview on @STVNews tonight. Creating @_FCUnited Powerchair football club is the best & most challenging thing I have ever done, keeping everything good about this sport in the spotlight. In just over a year we have shown how much of a incredible impact the sport can have when managed correctly with the most diverse group in Scotland, so proud. These players look up to me and I sometimes wonder how I became that guy but no words can explain how much every single one of them have kept me going, I will be forever grateful and never stop giving them everything I have. Thank you @STVRonnie & @Calbell0 for the time and for everyone’s support 🙌🏻

Niall and Kieran say shining a light on disability sport all year round is vital, as they celebrate their Champion For Change award 🤩👏

Honoured to win the Champion For Change award at the @VarietyGB disability sports awards!!
“Who’s work has helped change the perception of a particular sport”
I started @_FCUnited Powerchair football club with the belief I could create something that would give people joy and show what this sport is all about. Dedicated myself everyday to giving every one of our players the tools to be the best they can be. Watching that growth in confidence on and off the pitch has been a privilege.
For the longest time I never had hope that I could do anything in sports, feeling like I didn’t have anyone to look up too. Now to be acknowledged like this in a room full of incredible people is surreal. Be the change you want to see. Amazing few days, very grateful, thank you❤️

The last several months has been the most difficult time of my life. Being at my best mates funeral, going up to say words about him and just thinking I can’t believe this is real. The level of suffering has felt unbearable met with the pressure to hide it and carry on. James loved this podcast, he always told me how much he took from me genuinely saying how I feel. Facing this, talking about it, was my best way forward and exactly what he would want me to do. Everyone has a podcast these days, I get it but this one for me has always been about trying to make it easier for someone else, even if that’s just one person. It is okay to admit you are suffering, you are not alone, there is always a way forward. 17 minutes of what took every bit of my courage to record and post, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to watch it, thank you❤️
