Apparently what tilted public opinion against Kasab was the 'narrative' of chicken biryani. Otherwise he enjoyed widespread approval.
Such ridiculous apologies of what is unhinged radicalism is what pushes fence-sitters to the other side.
During Ajmal Kasab's trial, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam (now with the BJP and Rajya Sabha member) spread lies about Kasab demanding chicken biryani while in jail to shape Indian public opinion as desired by the State. He himself admitted to it.
In present times, IPS officer Huda, who writes a column under the pseudonym ibn khaldun bharti, provides similar services for the present regime, as his hit job on Sharjeel Imam's interview shows--manufacturing public consent for perpetual denial of his bail.
As far as Imam is concerned, he is extremely well-read, perceptive and fearless for his age. My contrary views on religion and political Islam notwithstanding, there is much to agree with his assertions on Hinduisation of Indian politics, well before the emergence of the BJP or the BJS.
I have written about it in #TheHindiHeartland in the chapter on Indian freedom struggle.
Before me, historians likes Gyanendra Pandey, Pratinav Anil, Manan Ahmed Asif etc., had written about it.
In fact, in 1997, Vasudha Dalmia had written a book titled The Nationalisation of Hindu Traditions, in which she showed how Hindu practices came to be positioned and regarded as national culture leading to the imagination of India as a Hindu country.
Imam is only saying what everyone knows but pretends otherwise

French activists are on some other level!!

When Vinnie Jones returned to Watford after signing for Chelsea, he had a couple of football mates staying with him.
One day, one of them looked out of the window and spotted a woman roller-skating outside.
“Wahey, look at this!”
Jones looked out.
“Oh my God! I can’t believe it!”
It was Tanya.
They had first met at 12, briefly dated as teenagers, then gone their separate ways. Now, years later, Jones had moved back into his old house, and Tanya was living next-door-but-one. She was going through a divorce.
“Do I believe in fate? It’s all very spooky.”
By then, Jones was known as one of English football’s hardest men. But Tanya had survived something extraordinary. At 21, after giving birth to her daughter Kaley, her heart failed, and she needed an emergency transplant. She would live with the consequences for the rest of her life.
When Jones decided to marry her, he spoke to her father.
“You know what you’re taking on?”
“Yeah, I do know and I’m going to take care of her and look after her.”
But Jones never believed he was rescuing Tanya.
“I feel she was saved to save me, and I was meant to look after her.”
They married in 1994. Jones later adopted Kaley, and the couple built a life together, eventually settling in Los Angeles as he moved from football into acting.
Tanya survived cervical cancer twice, and both of them tried to live without letting their health problems define them.
“We haven’t got time to think about ‘what if’ and ‘what about’. We make the most of life.”
“We’ve been through a lot, so I just want her to enjoy life and for us to grow old together.”
Then, in 2013, both were diagnosed with melanoma. Jones had a malignant growth removed beneath his eye and recovered. Tanya’s cancer kept returning.
For six years, he stood beside her through hospital visits and treatments, keeping the promise he had made to her father.
On Christmas Eve 2018, they learned the cancer had spread to Tanya’s brain.
“That was the first time we broke down together.”
Even then, Tanya wanted to make Christmas special for everyone.
“She wanted to get through the Christmas.”
Jones later reflected:
“I think she knew she wasn’t going to make next Christmas.”
By July 2019, doctors told him there were no treatments left.
“In that last week of her life when the doctors said there were no more treatments, I never told her she was dying.”
“We never spoke of that, I didn’t want her to know.”
He slept beside her every night in hospital while Kaley visited every morning.
“She has never ever slept one night in hospital without me there. I have always been by her side.”
Eventually, Jones brought Tanya home so she could spend her final days surrounded by family.
On the morning of July 6, he heard her breathing change. Everyone gathered around her bed.
“We knew it was the end, we were cuddling her.”
“I kissed her a lot and told her I loved her. I kept saying, ‘I love you, I love you’.”
Tanya died at 53, with Jones and her family beside her, after 25 years of marriage.
After her death, Jones discovered a card she had left with her diaries.
On the front, it read:
“Always believe something wonderful is about to happen.”
Inside, Tanya had written:
“To my love Vin, something wonderful happens to me every day. It’s being with you.”
“You are my morning sunshine the moment I wake. All my love, Tanya.”
Jones broke down when he read it.
“I broke down when I read it because I loved her like that too.”
He still carries the card everywhere.
“Now I take it everywhere I go so Tanya is always with me.”
The world knew Vinnie Jones as a football hardman. Tanya knew the boy he had been since he was 12.
When people asked how their marriage lasted through so much, his answer was simple:
“People say, how did it last?”
“And I say because it was real, true love.”
“I think we found true love.” ❤️

WHO DESTROYED FRANCE? 🇫🇷
Yes. EVERYONE did.
1. Emmanuel Macron, a man who thinks he's Jupiter but governs like a McKinsey intern who accidentally became emperor. He promised a French Renaissance and delivered a complete disaster. His solution to every catastrophe is another speech about the future of Europe.
2. The ENA Elite, Sciences Po, and the Grandes Écoles, the world's most sophisticated factories for producing highly educated incompetence. They can explain the collapse of French industry in seventeen PowerPoint presentations without ever having entered a factory. They invented a system where the same people run the state, destroy it, and then get promoted to investigate what went wrong.
3. François Hollande, the socialist who declared war on finance and then appointed Emmanuel Macron economy minister. His presidency was so spectacularly mediocre that even his own party eventually pretended not to know him. He managed to make political paralysis look like an exhausting full-time occupation.
4. Jacques Chirac, who promised reform, encountered a demonstration, and immediately discovered the virtues of doing absolutely nothing. He spent twelve years as president shaking hands with farmers while the national debt continued its agricultural expansion. His greatest political achievement was making immobility look presidential.
5. François Mitterrand, who tried socialism in 1981, and discovered economic reality in 1983. He nationalized companies, reversed course, and built a pyramid at the Louvre. Appropriate architecture for a president who occasionally treated the French economy like a pharaoh's burial chamber.
6. The Socialist Left, which believes money grows on government decrees. Their economic model consists of taxing the rich, subsidizing the poor, employing the middle class in public administration, and borrowing whatever remains. When the money runs out, they accuse arithmetic of being fascist.
7. The French Trade Unions, which defend public services by making sure nobody can use them. They stop trains to save the railways, close schools to defend education, and block refineries to protect purchasing power. Their greatest contribution to French productivity is ensuring that nobody produces anything without their permission.
8. The French Right, which has spent forty years promising to reduce public expenditure, reform the state, restore authority, and liberate the economy. Then it wins an election, appoints seventeen ministers, creates four administrative agencies, and discovers that cutting public expenditure might upset somebody. French conservatives defend free enterprise in speeches and administrative regulation in practice. They want a smaller state, provided nobody removes their subsidies, pensions, privileges, public contracts, or favorite government department. Their economic program was essentially socialism with better tailoring.
9. The French Boomers, who inherited affordable housing, expanding industries, and economic growth, then converted everything into pensions and real estate. They bought apartments for the price of a used Peugeot and now explain to young people that homeownership requires sacrifice. They spent their youth demanding revolution and their retirement demanding that absolutely nothing change.
10. Pétain and Vichy, who responded to the greatest military humiliation in modern French history by deciding that collaboration with the occupier was an excellent national recovery strategy. France had already lost the war. Pétain somehow found a way to make losing considerably more embarrassing.
11. The French Generals of 1940, who built the Maginot Line and apparently forgot to tell the Germans they were supposed to attack it. They prepared brilliantly for the First World War, only to discover that the enemy had inconveniently arrived in the Second.
12. The Republican Idealists, who believe France isn't a country but a philosophical concept. Other nations build institutions. France proclaims Values. When schools fail, they organize republican ceremonies. When public order collapses, they deliver speeches about citizenship. When reality contradicts their principles, reality is clearly insufficiently republican.
13. Saint-Simon, Fourier, Cabet, and the French Utopian Socialists, who looked at humanity and decided the problem was insufficient central planning. Fourier imagined communities organized around human passions. Saint-Simon dreamed of society directed by enlightened productive elites. Their descendants now occupy French ministries, designing national happiness through administrative circulars. Two centuries later, the happiness is still missing, but the paperwork is magnificent.
14. The French Revolution, which promised Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity, then introduced mass executions, revolutionary tribunals, civil war, and political terror. The revolutionaries liberated France from monarchy, discovered that citizens disagreed about liberty, and began executing one another. France has spent two centuries celebrating this as the birth of political enlightenment. Apparently, mass killing becomes progressive when accompanied by the correct slogans.
15. The Enlightenment, Libertinism, and the Marquis de Sade, who began by liberating humanity from superstition and ended by demonstrating that intellectual sophistication is no guarantee against moral insanity. Voltaire mocked religious authority, Rousseau dreamed of remaking society, and Sade turned transgression into an entire literary industry. Their descendants now believe that every inherited institution is oppressive and every new social experiment is automatically progress.
16. The English, who spent centuries sabotaging French ambitions, financing France's enemies, and preventing French domination of Europe. The Hundred Years' War was essentially a prolonged British property dispute conducted on French territory. Every time France attempted to become a continental superpower, England appeared with a navy, a coalition, and a remarkably enthusiastic willingness to pay somebody else to fight.
17. The Habsburgs, who surrounded France with territories acquired through marriage, inheritance, and a family tree resembling a biological experiment conducted without ethical supervision. They conquered half of Europe through weddings while French kings bankrupted themselves trying to escape the encirclement. The Habsburgs invented geopolitical domination through matrimonial administration.
18. The English, Again, because centuries of warfare were apparently insufficient. After defeating Napoleon, they conquered global commerce, international finance, and eventually the English language conquered French business. Today, French executives speak English to other French executives in Paris. England finally conquered France without deploying a single soldier.
19. The Romans, who conquered Gaul, introduced taxation, centralized administration, and the idea that provincial populations should be governed by distant officials convinced of their intellectual superiority. Two thousand years later, Paris continues to administer France like a Roman governor collecting taxes from barbarians. Rome collapsed. French bureaucracy survived. Live like Rome, die like Rome.
20. Darth Vader, the ultimate French technocrat. He believed every problem could be solved through centralization, intimidation, and an enormous publicly funded megaproject. His Death Star was essentially the French Ministry of Finance equipped with a superlaser. It cost a fortune, concentrated all power in one place, and exploded because nobody listened to the engineers.
21. Saruman and Sauron, the spiritual ancestors of French industrial planning and European centralization. Saruman wanted to replace forests with factories. Sauron wanted to unite the continent under one supreme administrative authority. Both believed that enough central planning could overcome reality. Both were eventually defeated by small provincial creatures who refused to follow instructions.
22. Satan, who has reportedly retired from corrupting France because the competition has become unbearable. He spent centuries encouraging pride, vanity, envy, and destructive political passions, only to discover that French politicians could produce the same results without supernatural assistance. He applied for a position at the Ministry of Finance but was rejected for insufficient administrative experience.
And the French people?
They have spent more than two centuries overthrowing kings, emperors, republics, governments, and presidents, convinced that the next political arrangement would finally solve everything.
They have tried absolute monarchy, constitutional monarchy, revolutionary dictatorship, empire, parliamentary republics, presidential republicanism, socialism, liberalism, conservatism, and technocracy.
Every generation announces that France needs a revolution.
Every revolution promises to put an end to the failures of the previous regime.
And every new regime eventually discovers that it has inherited THE FRENCH.

When Aretha Franklin died, the IRS said she owed them nearly $8 million. This is a woman who wouldn't sing a single note until somebody counted $25,000 in cash into her hands.
She'd sit there with her reading glasses on and watch every bill. Then the cash went in her purse, and the purse went onstage with her and sat on the piano where she could see it all night.
It was in her contract, too. The $25,000 had to be handed to Aretha personally, and nobody else on her team could take it unless her office signed off in writing ahead of time. Anything above that could come as a check.
That clause is smarter than it looks. It's basically a deposit, the same reason a contractor won't pour your driveway until you've paid something up front. Once a promoter has counted $25,000 into your hands, he's got every reason to make good on the check for the rest. And if he skips town anyway, the money you cared about most is already in your purse.
Her friend Tavis Smiley said she came up watching club owners stiff guys like Ray Charles and B.B. King. She wasn't going to let that happen to her, and for decades it didn't.
After the show, the band and the backup singers would line up backstage and she'd pay them in cash too. Her agent Dick Alen told her biographer a lot of her staff got paid that way, off the books.
Problem is, all of that only protects you from somebody standing in front of you, and the IRS shows up years later with a letter asking for receipts.
Back in 1993 the IRS disputed her deductions and she paid over $225,000 in back taxes. Two years later they put a roughly $490,000 lien on her house in Michigan. And during the fight over her estate, a lawyer for one of her sons told the court she'd had no accounting system and once carried $750,000 in uncashed checks around in her purse. The checks were the part she was supposed to be able to trust, and some of them never even made it to a bank.
The final bill covered 2010 through 2017, more than $7.8 million once you add interest and penalties. Her estate's lawyer said the fight was really about what counted as income and how much her touring actually cost. Good luck winning either of those arguments without paperwork.
So the estate made a deal. The IRS got $800,000 up front and then 45 cents of every dollar her music brought in, mostly royalties and licensing. Another 40 cents sat in escrow for future taxes. For long stretches her sons got nothing. The last payment went through in June 2022.
Do the math in her own currency and $7.8 million comes out to 312 of those purse payments. That's the cash from 312 nights of making a promoter count it out in front of her, and her sons still spent almost four years in line behind the IRS.
Aretha Franklin died in 2018 with an estate of about $18 million and no known will. 8 months later, her family found 3.
She lost her mother at 10. She had her first child at 12. By 1967 she was the Queen of Soul, and her fee went from $750 a show to tens of thousands. After her father was shot in 1979, she paid 85% of his round-the-clock care, which cost almost $2,500 a week.
She trusted almost nobody with her money. Before every show she demanded $25,000 in cash and stuffed it in her purse. When the gig was over, she picked up the purse and the audience knew it was done. Her staff were paid off the books, with no records and no taxes deducted.
At her death she had 18 Grammys, $1 million in fur coats and a $1.6 million bank account. She also owed the IRS an estimated $6.3 million to $8 million.
One will was found in a couch cushion. Within a year, legal fees hit $600,000.
In 2023 a jury ruled that the couch will, from 2014, was valid.
She kept her money in a purse. She kept her will in a couch.

This is a fantastic story about an East India Company mathematician claiming the Hindus understood the Binomial theorem in whole numbers.
Unfortunately, we hardly were taught all of this...
Year was 1790 and the city was Calcutta. Reuben Burrow, a Company surveyor, dropped a Sanskrit puzzle into Asiatic Researches.
The puzzle goes like this: A raja's palace has 8 doors. Open them one at a time, two at a time, three, on up to all eight together. How many ways are possible?
The Sanskrit rule goes 8, 28, 56, 70, 56, 28, 8, 1. Add it up, and we get 255. Look closely and you find those are binomial coefficients. Europe called the same pattern Pascal's triangle.
Burrow was a tenant farmer's son from Leeds. Walked four days to London at 18, taught himself Sanskrit once he got to India. He worked the rule through and wrote that the Hindoos (his words) understood it in whole numbers "to the full as well as Briggs, and much better than Pascal".
The paper never named the book but the puzzle matches Bhaskara's Lilavati, written around 1150 CE.

The Kogi tribe of Colombia selects certain babies to spend their first NINE YEARS in COMPLETE DARKNESS. No sunlight. Not even moonlight. They are trained to connect with what the Kogi believe is an invisible cosmic consciousness behind all life.
The Kogi select these children at birth to become Mamas, the spiritual leaders of the Kogi. They are raised in dark caves, where their mothers and spiritual teachers teach them about rivers, mountains, trees, animals, and the Sun without letting them see them.
Their training also completely reverses their normal sleeping patterns. They sleep during the day and remain awake at night, learning sacred stories, songs, and the sounds of nature. Anthropologists have described this unusual upbringing as an attempt to change how these children experience time and space.
Even when they are occasionally taken outside at night, they are blindfolded to prevent them from seeing the world.
The Kogi believe the physical universe originates in an invisible realm of consciousness called Aluna, where everything exists spiritually before taking physical form.
They believe that by keeping these children in darkness, they can develop a connection with this invisible reality before experiencing the physical world.
Imagine being nine years old and having never seen sunlight, a tree, a mountain, or even the faces of the people who raised you.
Then, after spending your entire childhood learning about the world through sounds, stories, and spiritual teachings, you finally emerge into daylight and see everything for the first time.
Some accounts describe future Mamas undergoing this training for as long as 18 YEARS.
The Kogi believe these spiritual leaders can communicate with the forces of nature and help maintain Earth's balance. They also believe modern humanity has forgotten its connection to this invisible world.
Do you think this kind of upbringing could unlock a different way of perceiving reality, or is it simply extreme sensory deprivation?
