fun watching @joinswsh take off. consumer social is so hard. v rare to see teams break through
excited to be a mini investor in these A+ founders @ali_debow @WeilynChong & team
**how @joinswsh went from a greek life photo sharing app to powering the world's largest events**
@joinswsh is building shared albums for live experiences
first, it was campus life - Greek Week, parties, tailgates.
then swsh users took us with them: to concerts, music festivals, and game days. so we followed.
now, we power the world's largest events including @RollingLoud, @BreakawayFest, @nyjets, @insomniacevents, @EDC_LasVegas, and more
ready to take your event to the next level, let's get use swsh-ed up

excited to have invested in @plutolabs_
their launch today gives app builders a way to let users authenticate with any site and perform actions on their behalf — without relying on their APIs.
p cool.
imagine a "buy this recipe" button that opens Amazon and instantly buys all the ingredients
or proving you're a student without uploading an ID
prove your age, employment, or income without doxxing yourself
verify that you own a social media account or a physical address
lots of interesting use cases here
congrats to @mattes @devloper_xyz & team
i'm developing a new concept in CPG + AI.

good post by @dragon_khoi on intentional / artisanal / alternative software
basedappsandgames.com/blog/h…
it's a great time to build alternatives to mainstream software
there's a growing market of people who appreciate craft and thoughtfully invest their time and attention
"Intentionality > efficiency" indeed. But how did HEY create a space of intentionality in an email client? I wrote a bit about it:

resilience is a choice. and it's a skill you can learn.
in startups, it matters as much as competency.
with some of my past projects, i lost conviction to anxiety. others ran with the same ideas and built breakout companies.
setbacks and self-doubt are guaranteed. the best founders cultivate resilience.
most unhinged light/dark mode switch i've seen

true personal connection with AI agents won't happen until they can ghost you forever if they don't like you.
you can't have a meaningful relationship with people who are forced to hang out with you.
normalize JDs like @dwr's.
brief. transparent comp.
clear on what they want and don't want.
apply directly via DM.
refreshingly applicant-friendly. also obviously a great opportunity.
We're hiring a staff-level frontend React engineer for Farcaster.
Full-time
$300K+ cash & equity
Contractor
$30K a month—flexible on cash / equity split
Team is 12 people, all staff-level engineers except me.
Requirements
- staff-level React experience (5+ years as primary stack) at a consumer technololgy company with millions of DAU; we're not hiring experienced generalists right now, need to have significant experience working on a React codebase at-scale
- must be physically located in the US or Canada; no exceptions
If you meet the requirements, send me a Twitter DM.
Will only respond to people that send a link to a CV / LinkedIn and meet the requirements. If I don't respond, assume it's a polite decline for now.
We're not looking for non-engineers, interns, people who want to work for free for experience unfortunately. Appreciate the hustle. :)
✌️ happy personal news
after a few years as a product director at @Medium, i’ve decided to leave and jump back into building and exploring mode.
this was a tough call. i had a wonderful time leading a cross-functional team of 20+ designers, engineers, PMs, content editors and more.
we made all of Medium listenable with AI. we launched a new premium subscription that writers love. and we tripled new customers, boosting annual revenue by 8 figures and putting Medium on track to be profitable.
i’m proud of that impact. and i’m proud that we made Medium better for the millions of people who read and write with it every day.
leaving this role feels kinda crazy. Medium is a legendary platform and still a cornerstone of the internet even 12 years on. i had a ton of freedom to conceive new experiments and features, and share them with millions of users. that’s an incredible opportunity that i think every product-obsessed person wants.
but it’s 2024. life is feeling more sci-fi every day, and the call of the unknown became irresistible for me. there’s so much amazing stuff happening in tech, art, and culture. there’s never been a more fertile time to experiment and build new things.
so i’m giving myself more space to think about the future i want to help create.
i’ll be spending more time with founders, artists, and builders. if you’re working on something audacious, i want to meet you — DM me.
if you’re a seasoned product leader, check out my old role at Medium. you’ll work with talented people like @ltm and @buster. you’ll help build a platform that’s good for the internet and creates real value for people. and you’ll take part in the upside of a company that’s ascendant again in big way. see @ltm's tweet below for more about the role.
to my friends at Medium, thank you. i’ll miss jamming with you.
and special thanks to @ev for believing in @wwshaef and me when you acquired our last co and brought us into the fold.
📢 Medium is hiring!
We have two great leadership roles we're looking to fill right now. Please share with your networks to spread the word!
