The rule of law exists to ensure that the rights of citizens even with no special status or power except the status of being citizens of a democratic country are not trampled over.
The rule of law cannot & should not in itself become a weapon in the hands of the state to silence dissenting voices that it prefers not to hear.
The continued JC of @SauravDassss & @AshutoshRanka sets a dangerous precedence.
We must speak now! Refuse to accept the weaponisation of the rule of law against our democracy!

ECINet, the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) comprehensive digital platform, has a feature through which viewing of enumeration form details is enabled State by State. This means that access for State Nodal Officers (SNOs) could be switched off anytime making it a centralised platform, according to an audit by ‘Charchagram’, a civic tech initiative.
The report assumes significance in view of objections raised by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi over the centralisation of ECINet and the electoral roll database.

SHORT POST: #RelianceJio IPO
I haven’t heard a single critique of this IPO from anyone so far. So on the festive season of Dussehra, that stands for the victory of good over evil, I don’t want to be the evil one. Having said this, here are some facts.
The basics
The IPO is just a 3% share dilution that wipes off the Rs 30K debt. 3% sale will create a scramble & scarcity premium where people want to grab a share of the story. There is no real price discovery on such low free float. Jio is trying to benchmark Airtel at $110 - 120 BN and add a reliance growth premium to that. The strategy for IPO pricing seems fine relative to India valuation basket. But the argument look overstretched when we compare to global players. Verizon and AT&T are valued at $177 BN & $154 BN respectively.
Jio at $16 Billion revenue & 14% growth rate (5 year avg), it may take another 20 years to catch up to AT&T revenues (Assume rupee depreciation rate of 4%). But Jio is asking for almost 70% of market cap as of the American peers today. So clearly, asking IPO price is not comparable internationally. But considering Airtel valuations, it seems okay.
The Headwinds:
The listing would make Jio one of the top 5 companies in India on market cap. How much future returns do you expect from top 5 company in India for next decade? You decide. The buy case gets weaker when we examine the 14% revenue growth achieved largely on the growth of 530 Million subscribers. Compared to the avg ARPU of $45 for American counterparts, the ARPU for Indian wireless customers has stayed notoriously stagnant below $2 per month (INR 200) since last 20 years (on nominal basis). So the bull case of rapidly improving ARPU looks like an impossibility given the experience of last 2 decades.
Final take:
If this gets a listing pop or appreciation of 30%, we’re looking at the biggest telecom company in the world on market cap. Ready for that. ?
In a market devoid of serious technology plays & overstretched valuations, investors would latch on to anything that promises enterprise technology driven future. The IPO market may be underestimating the investments that are needed to be that technology player vs what it is today – a utility telecom services provider.
Hope that doesn’t make me the evil one. Enjoy the party. My discussion with NDTV Profit.

News: We now know how eMudhra broke its CA keys. They were not stolen. They were tiny numbers: 4, 56, 66, 115, 155, 156, 230 and 237.
What happened: On Oct 17 a researcher named Wayne found he could recover the private keys of eight eMudhra intermediate CAs from their public certificates. He signed "We have a problem here - Wayne" with each key and sent it to the browser root programs. Mozilla rebuilt the keys on its own the same day.
Who is hit: Six of the CAs issue TLS certs and chain to emSign ECC Root CA - G3, trusted by Chrome, Firefox, Apple and Microsoft. Two sign code. Sectigo cross-signed all eight under "AAA Certificate Services".
How eMudhra got it wrong: These are ECDSA P-384 keys. A real one is a random number about 116 digits long. All eight were below 256, so you only need to try 255 values. eMudhra says that at an April 2025 key ceremony on Utimaco HSMs, it changed its usual steps to test key wrap/unwrap for export. A bug in its script made a second, weak set of keys. Staff then used the weak keys for the CSRs by mistake, because the key labels looked alike. eMudhra is still hunting the exact bug.
Why browsers were safe: No certs from these CAs appear in CT logs, and Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge reject unlogged certs. eMudhra says none of the eight issued end-entity certs. But curl, scripts, apps and devices that skip CT and revocation checks could have been fooled since April 2025. No one knows if that happened.
What to do now:
- Update ca-certificates (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Alpine, Arch)
- NSS 3.131.1, Firefox 158.0.1
- Go 1.27.3 or 1.26.10, certifi 2026.10.19, pip 26.2.2, uv 0.13.4
- Node.js and Bun: fix pending
- macOS /usr/bin/curl still uses the old /etc/ssl/cert.pem
- Sites on emSign ECC Root CA - G3: Chrome drops that root Oct 27. Get a new cert now. eMudhra says about 30,000 certs must move.

It also says private sharing was discontinued from 1 October 2026 on MoRTH’s directions, a decision we have found announced nowhere. (1/8)

My brother and I are being burnt today because my brother did something evil, and I stood by him. I advised him to return Maa Sita, but he refused.
But if we were living in today's times, I would have suggested him to join BJP.
Not only would we have been saved, but he would probably have been made country's president or at least a governor.

I’d engage with you had you bothered to use your name. Dog whistling using a pseudonym means you’re either in a position of power (which means what you’re doing is illegal) or it means you’re a rank coward.
Either way - it’s pathetic.

Mr Gupta, I’ve spent a little bit of time in jail. You’re lucky you haven’t.
When a man is locked up & deprived of his basic freedom to move for 6 years without trial, guess what? He will become bitter.
He doesn’t have the luxury of sipping on champagne & talking “Constitution” & “liberalism”.
Dont expect him to worship the Constitution when it hasn’t done jackshit for him in 6 years.
Cheap dog whistling but no one expects any better from you.
1/5 Sharjeel Imam has given an interview detailing his Islamist manifesto. Surprisingly, no storm has been kicked up over pronouncements that are so unapologetically anti-liberal, anti-secular, anti-democracy, anti-Constitution—in a word, anti-national.
2/5 He openly calls the Constitution fascist, labels secularism a trap, and denounces democracy as a contrivance to deny Muslims their political rights.
3/5 The piece is a litany of indictments against the liberal class. Imam rejects any difference between liberals and Hindutvadis. In his essentialist worldview, all Hindus are the same, unanimous in denying Muslims political power they claim as a divine right.
4/5 Inadvertently, Sharjeel has recognised something that liberals have been fighting shy of acknowledging: that Hindutva’s idea of India is anchored in the same “overarching nationalist framework”— that Muslims are Indians above all else.
5/5 For more, read this Opinion article by Ibn Khaldun Bharati, who looks at Islam from an Indian perspective:
Sharjeel Imam’s Islamist manifesto will be forgotten. The silence of liberals will not
