I don't even really know which Youtubers have dunked on Johto/HGSS because I don't watch them, but the way these negative takes have resonated with the younger generation made me feel insane for thinking it was one of the best Pokemon games.

Johto is forever tarnished because over the last 10 years the Pokemon community has been conditioned with Youtube challenge runs being 1 video and the dead of Lets Plays that you are supposed to be equal to the level of the Gym leader's ace.
The baby game in which you one shot anything if you use a STAB super effective move and they will burn you at the stake if you're 10 levels below the E4. In what other video games does this even apply to, what other boss fights do you have where your stats are supposed to equal that of the boss.
