Everyone always says athletes are rich and make too much money which, they are, but they are still an exploited labor class and this Jalen situation exemplifies that.
The money professional athletes make compared to what they generate for their owners is incomparable.

jalen hurts forced to play with no sleep & a life threatening injury. a servicemember dies on the field and the game goes on as planned. two cfb players died this season from game-related injuries. at what point does respect for human life overcome sports capitalism?

There need to be several dozen people banned for life from the NFL and several physicians must lose their licenses.
The NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles almost killed Jalen Hurts for a Week 5 international showcase.
The full details of what happened behind closed doors in London just surfaced, and the negligence is staggering.
Before kickoff in London, Hurts was in a hospital bed until 4:00 AM undergoing emergency vascular testing. Medical staff instructed him not to sleep because sleep was considered an active health risk.
Instead of shutting down their $255 million franchise quarterback, the team cleared him to play 60 minutes of brutal, high-impact collision football on zero sleep.
Then, they loaded him onto a pressurized, 8-hour transatlantic flight back to Philadelphia.
Every doctor on the planet knows that long-haul flights and cabin pressure are the exact triggers that cause lower-extremity blood clots to break free. The Eagles spent days assuring the public it was just a "minor, superficial calf clot".
Now the truth comes out: the clot dislodged, shot through his bloodstream, and caused multiple pulmonary emboli in his lungs.
Hurts is officially out for the season, placed on blood thinners where taking a single routine tackle could cause a fatal internal hemorrhage.
He isn't just lucky to play football again, he is lucky to be alive.
When the NFL preaches "player safety," remember this moment. They ran a human being into the ground for television ratings in the UK, almost lost him to a preventable medical catastrophe, and cratered their entire season in the process.
Who inside that building signed off on letting him play and board that flight?

#Mavs guard Kyrie Irving was asked about when he plans to retire:
“You have social media and gambling which is running rampant and it’s not the same NBA that I fell in love with as a kid and I’m very much aware of that. And I don’t say that as a negative thing.”

Thinking of every UTSA staff member and student who was on the field and sidelines when this happened. I know many of you are shaken up. Seeing what unfolded is a heavy thing to carry. Sending strength and prayers to all of you.

Hey im gonna say something.
The game last night should not have happened after this incident.
I understand lots of money was at stake, but it should’ve been cancelled or postponed. I don’t really care how, it just would’ve been the objectively correct thing to do.

nba cup, nba play in, nba euro expansion, nfl's 17th game, nfl australia/euro, cfp 24-teams, college conference realignment, march madness expansion — every single expansion/extra game game that every league (minus the wnba) has implemented has been a cash grab. and it's all slop

Hilarious that the most chaotic week of college football this year happens the same week we find out none of this would really matter if it happened next year

One of the most infuriating aspects of the CFB postseason expansion era has been that they never tried 8 teams. The most obvious staring-you-in-the-face number of teams for the sport and they didn’t even consider it once.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said it but 8 was the number. Spots (not auto-bids, spots) for 5 power conference champions, a G5, and Notre Dame with one to spare as the situations warranted. No byes, 6 games played at the traditional NY6 spots leading up to a national championship game. There’s yet to be a 9th ranked team that’s both deserving and capable of winning a championship, let alone a 12th, let alone a 24th.
