Because Excel doesn't recognise that this is a decimal point - in the excel version the points are used as separations between thousands. If you can, replace the decimal point with a comma in the original, and it should work.
I recently noticed that I say "sorry" three different ways, depending on whether I am speaking German, English or (recently added) Dutch. It's the same word, but it is weirdly also absolutely clear to me how that word is supposed to sound in each one.
