The law of prediction markets in Canada: cameronhuff.com/blog/the-law…. Where's the boundary between regulated activity and user-controlled blockchain-based global services?
I analysed all 1662 RPAA registrants. There's a fairly high number of non-Canadian companies, some odd address/email patterns, and a few types of companies you wouldn't expect: Poshmark, Walmart, Terranet (land registry), SkipTheDishes, and more.

Who's going to win the Superapp race in Canada? @RobinhoodApp, @Wealthsimple, @coinbase? WS is in the lead, Robinhood and Coinbase have track records elsewhere.
I don't know who will win, but here's what they'll have to do to get there legally: cameronhuff.com/blog/making-….
Just a week after my post: an interview with Robinhood's GM for Canada, @JohannKerbrat, who promises more things coming in the Canadian market. wealthprofessional.ca/news/i…
The first round of enforcement actions under the RPAA by the Bank of Canada have been released: bankofcanada.ca/regulatory-o…. Interesting to see Deloitte Canada on the list of fined entities.
All appear to be for failing to register, and all had an AMP of $0.

TD and Scotiabank Join Global Stablecoin Initiative
Two of Canada’s largest banks are joining an international stablecoin project.
TD Bank Group and Scotiabank are among 21 institutions planning to form a new company later this year. The first product on its agenda is a U.S.-dollar stablecoin, with a launch planned for the first half of 2027.
The banks see a role for it in cross-border payments and the settlement of digital asset transactions. If the group adds another currency, it says the euro will be next.
The initiative started with ten banks in October 2025. Eleven more institutions have now joined, but several details remain unknown, including the issuer, the technology and the role each bank will play. A Canadian-dollar version was not announced.

I'm an online advocate against crypto scammers (& sometimes helping them pay up/go to jail). Sadly, journalists keep conflating the good guys and bad guys. My article about the National Post's feature on Ben McKenzie's "crusade": cameronhuff.com/blog/journal….
Hikes near Cortina d'Ampezza, Dolomites, Italy. And photos of lunch at the "Rifugio" awaiting at the top (the person working there said they bring in the supplies by helicopter).
Summer vacation is coming to an end. Here's a note I wrote for myself that I turned into a blog post in case anyone else is curious about a 90 year old book that has had an enormous impact on the world. It's probably the 20th century's most impactful political economy book.
