It's one year to the day since Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone ran a championships record of 47.78 to win 400m gold in Tokyo 🇯🇵 She became the second fastest athlete in history over one lap behind Marita Koch (47.60 from 1985) ⚡️ McLaughlin-Levrone had to be at her best as Marileidy Paulino clocked 47.98, going third on the 400m all-time list 🤯

So you're telling me that an athlete who runs 48.7 in her first 400m of the season, which is not her main event, is where you all draw the line? Realistically speaking, the 47.60 is very questionable, but let’s not act like 47 is out of the picture for her. Mind you, some of you are the same ones saying she is going 49 in the 400mh

Guys, I don’t do the back and forth on this app, but lemme just make one thing clear. I’ve ALWAYS given flowers and respect to the women who’ve came before me, especially Shelly, and to my competitors that I race currently. I’ve never thought of myself to be better than anyone else, I’ve only ever strived to be the best that I can be. Thank you guys for tuning into Nightcap, but I hope y’all understand what I was trying to say. Everything that has happened thus far in my career has been in hopes of wanting to be become one of the greatest! The work and the results of what I have done over the past few years has put me in a conversation that I am blessed to be a part of. See y’all good folks in 2027 🫡‼️

This time last year, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone 🇺🇸 ran an easy 48.29 semifinal to break the women's 400m American Record in Tokyo. Exactly 19 years after Sanya Richards-Ross had set the previous record.

Just realized that by virtue of Masai Russell and Jasmine Jones winning the hurdles at the World Ultimate Championship. It has given the United States Wildcards for all hurdles events at the 2027 Beijing World Championship. This has only happened once before for the 1997 Athens World Championship.

I will not be competing at @athlos this year, guys. My team and I believe this is the best decision for me and my body as we look toward what’s next. I’m grateful for everyone who has supported me throughout this year. See y’all on the track in 2027 🙏🏽

The concept of the World Ultimate Championship presented an opportunity for the best ranked athletes to compete for prize money that most of them do not earn on a regular basis. A lot of athletes never took it into consideration because to them it was never a major championship. (Athletes with various injuries are excluded). However, the athletes who showed up actually competed to the best of their abilities and managed to leave with good pay. Sure, World Athletics is still learning and they have a lot to improve on for future editions of their events and events for which they are partners. For example, the Olympics. Sadly, a lot of Track and Field athletes do not know what they want which contributes to affect the sport.
