Ngilu has been in politics since 1996. She was a Minister of Health from 2003 to 2007 during Kenya's worst healthcare workers' strike. She was a governor in Kitui County's most corrupt and depressing regime. She even withheld salaries of postgraduate doctors until 2021, when a court ordered her to pay them. In 2019, mysterious fires gutted key county offices housing financial, planning, and procurement records that, in 2023, a Senate oversight report read as premeditated malice to destroy files. But today Ngilu speaks like she has new ideas to transform Kitui. Slimy politician. Mikora.

Kimani Wamatangi has built 32 hospitals in Kiambu while Gladys Wanga has built a water kiosk. Wanga clearly understands the assignment. You can't eat a hospital, you can't boil ugali with an ICU, but you can cook with water.
