The movie had ended, the credits still rolling across the television and casting soft shadows around the room. Tim lay on his side, turned towards Hawk, unable to contain his smile. “So, you liked it, didn't you?”

The church was nearly empty, save for the occasional footsteps echoing in the distance. Tim had hoped to find a little peace there, but his thoughts kept drifting back to those familiar blue eyes.

“I'm just trying to make sure we get a nice one. It's Christmas, Hawk! Surely you can humour me for once? I want us to have something nice. Something we can put up and decorate and enjoy for the next few weeks. Is that really so terrible?”
