I was fired during a Zoom meeting while working from home. Before I could close my laptop, another notification appeared: “CEO has requested a private meeting.”
My manager had just told me my position was being eliminated. No warning, no discussion, just a rehearsed speech about “business priorities.”
I had worked remotely for the company for four years, consistently hitting my targets. But three weeks earlier, I had refused to approve a financial report that contained numbers I knew were false.
My manager had called me difficult. Now I understood why.
Still, I accepted the termination documents and prepared to log off.
Then the CEO’s invitation appeared.
I joined, expecting another formal goodbye.
Instead, the CEO asked, “Did your manager explain why you were selected?”
I told him the truth about the report.

My manager gave me a warning for poor performance. I was the first person in the office every morning and the last to leave almost every evening.

3 days ago, I was sitting with my friends when a man came and greeted us.
He asked, “Who is Abdul Baffa?”
My friend responded, “Here he is. What happened?”
The man then took my friend aside and they started talking.
It turned out that the man was a police officer sent from the police station. He told my friend that he had been assigned some jobs by the Ministry of Health.
My friend confirmed that he had been receiving and carrying out those assignments.
The police officer then told him that he wanted to take him and his elder brother to the police station for some questioning about the work.
My friend agreed, saying there was no problem, so he went with the officer and his elder brother.

For eleven years my husband has woken up at 5:52 a.m. on the dot.

He never snoozed it. Just reached over, turned it off, and lay back down until the real morning started. I always thought it was some military leftover or weird personal rule. I never asked.
Last month he had to fly out for a conference. The first morning alone I jolted awake at 5:52, heart already racing, and couldn’t figure out why that exact time felt like a punch to the chest.

During my undergraduate days, I took a course called GEOL 304. One day, I received my test result, and what I saw almost discouraged me. I scored 3 out of 40 marks.
