An overthinker like me?
I built Veynor for us.

import a p&l or a budget, then ask whether you can afford to turn a client down.
the answer comes from the numbers in the document, not from advice.
your financials go in their own block, never into the profile that reads how you think. a p&l should answer money questions, not describe you
I discovered that 1000s of bots are actively monitoring X for new links posted, probably not just on my account
I noticed when everytime I'd share one of my sites new features or pages, the page would get a bit slower just after posting, then I asked Claude to analyze it
I tweeted a test URL as a reply somewhere deeply hidden in a thread (so not even a main post)
And within 8 seconds there's thousands of crawlers opening the page!
One is a military intelligence firm, that scans social media for breaking news and sells alerts to newsrooms, banks, companies and government, it specifically follows accounts with many followers
Another one is a social media monitoring company that tracks what people say online
I knew of course high frequency trading firms use online news to trade fast on things, but interesting to see it in real life
Twitterbot (X) of course is first, within 0 seconds of sharing, it opens it (probably when I wrote the tweet)
The first non-X bot arrives just 8.40s later, which I think is pretty fast considering it's a reply by me deeply hidden in a thread somewhere
TL;DR they're watching you!
Motivated reasoning rules the day. X is better than Twitter ever was. Better company, better platform. But how many detractors from back then dare admit they were wrong?
the sealed envelope was the easiest thing in veynor to build and the hardest to leave alone.
you write why you decided something, pick 30, 90 or 365 days, and you cannot open it early.
i looked for a good reason to add an override. the best one i found was "people will ask for it"

i opened it to make a decision and it said no first.
"your nervous system is louder than your thinking right now. that's not weakness. that's a signal."
two minutes of box breath. then it let me in.

without my cv: "consider whether the role aligns with your long-term goals."
with it: "you've left two roles at exactly this point — eighteen months in, right after the scope widened."
one pdf. read once.

my smoke test cleans up after itself by deleting the drafts it made.
it decided a draft was its own if it had no newsletter attached.
nothing i typed by hand has a newsletter attached.
147 of 171 drafts gone. five of the seven posts in the log too.
got them back out of the sqlite write-ahead log, which had not been checkpointed since the 26th. pure luck

veynor starts knowing nothing about you.
two toggles change that. one reads how full today is. one reads last night's sleep.
everything raw stays on the phone. one line ever reaches the ai:
"slept 6h38 · 3 events · sharp"

two toggles, about thirty seconds.
day shape → reads your calendar.
readiness → reads last night's sleep, via health connect.
off by default. on when you say.
