.@sama says the advice to pick one thing to build and pour all your focus into it no longer applies. "The canonical advice that was correct two years ago was, 'Pick one, and put all your effort into it, because you can't build all 30 things.'" "You can now build all 30 things. And you can get people to use them all. And you can work more on the ones that work." "So I think this mindset of lots of ideas, quick feedback, and being open to a lot of things not working is great for this new era for how people build."

huge morning for Canadian Investment Summit - Effective today Canada will allow immediate expensing for most new capital investments - Reducing federal employee count by 10%, same level as 2015 - Cutting spending on consultants by 20% - "our capital markets host 40% of world's mining companies" - Canada unlocking airport competitiveness through privatization of operating companies. taking those profits helping less profitable regional airports - Canadian pensions already own airports in Europe & Oceania, have expertise - Lufthansa can fly Frankfurt to Toronto, but it's banned from flying Toronto to Vancouver. Foreign competition is illegal here, and we wonder why fares are so high. - Budget airlines have failed in Canada partly because economics at federal operated airports are higher than anywhere in world - Ottawa's own review said Canada's big airports need private-sector discipline and should be sold. That was a decade ago. Today we are acting. $AC.TO $ONEX.TO

We just announced Canada’s new Productivity Mega Deduction. This cuts Canada’s marginal effective tax rate from 13% to 6.4% on new business investment — the lowest of any major economy in the world. Canada is building big — and becoming the best place in the world to build. More here: pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releas…

Since the launch of ChatGPT, the Philippines offshore industry (8% of country’s GDP) has actually grown much bigger. Employment in IT and business outsourcing is up by +20% to 1.9m workers and industry revenue is up +30% to $42B. “AI is helping offshore workers in the Philippines do new, more complex jobs. They are picking up work training AI models or supervising AI agents. Hospitals in America are increasingly outsourcing the checking of insurance eligibility and filing of medical records to Filipinos packing AI tools. Mr Gallimore says more “high-value” work, such as accountancy or engineering, is going offshore in part because “AI is a leveller. You can now teach someone complex stuff quickly” and still get it done more cheaply than in America or Europe.” *** More here: economist.com/asia/2026/08/0…

if you wanna grow a lot very quickly, you should start a company esp if you have something on your mind that you can’t dismiss easily. co building is one of the highest bandwidth ways to grow mainly cuz it compresses so many parts of life into a single endeavor. i.e. you learn incentives, relationships, conflict, persuasion, leadership, hiring, failure, negotiation, power, trust, capital allocation, communication, & responsibility all in one fell swoop. almost every recurring dynamic in history eventually shows up in miniature inside a company. this makes sense cuz a startup is essentially a simulator for human nature (both demand & supply). it forces you to confront what actually matters, strips away a lot of comforting abstractions (like a boss), & often gives you painful/brutal feedback when your model of the world is wrong which is what makes it such an extraordinary education.

SAKANA FUGU ULTRA vs. CLAUDE OPUS 4.8 RESULTS Prompt: "build a really high quality single html file crossy road game with three.js" Sakana Fugu Ultra: - Tokens Used: ~89k ($7.32) - Time Elapsed: 22 minutes - Issues: inverted directional turn, wonky camera, no sfx, not identical to Crossy Road game Claude Opus 4.8 Ultracode: - Tokens Used: ~940k (~$37.85) - Time elapsed: 79 minutes - Issues: got stuck twice in a retry loop (had to prompt to self-correct), wrong character position after restart, difficult from the start (whereas Fugu's version got significantly more difficult as you progress, which is the correct behaviour) I think in terms of application functionality, quality, and design, Opus won. In terms of model speed and performance, Fugu on Opencode won. What are your thoughts? Comment down below who you think won! ⬇️

Genuinely impressed, almost shocked, at how good GLM-5.2 by @zai_org is at coding. This changes things.

A few months ago, @_startuphacker and I decided to pivot @tyceai to focus on construction. Since then we've had conversations with over 70 construction companies and civil engineering firms. Sat in office rooms. Walked job sites. Talked to the people actually running these projects. What became clear pretty quickly: construction is an incredibly complex, high-risk industry. A single project can involve hundreds of trade partners, years of planning, and billions of dollars on the line. And it's completely people-driven. We realized early on that this industry needs domain-specific intelligence, not general AI. So that's what we're building at Tyce,purpose-built for construction teams. States and provinces are investing billions in infrastructure right now. Cities are being reshaped. That investment needs to be executed well, and the teams doing the executing deserve better tools. That's where we want Tyce to be. Grateful for every GC and engineer who opened their doors and shared what their world actually looks like. That's what's driving what we're building.

basically it turns out you can build superintelligence but enterprises won't buy it unless it's on bedrock

These numbers are nuts. Especially when you consider that Logfire is (somewhat) objectively a more powerful platform. There's a reason we're not just putting up our prices: I'm pretty certain customers of all scales will just refuse to pay 1000x the infra costs for observability and evals pretty soon, hence we're sticking to ~4x infra at scale.
AI observability can cost more than it should. We ran the numbers: same scale, same workload, four tools. At moderate production load, Logfire is up to 40x less expensive than the alternatives. Spans-based pricing. No proprietary units. AI native and full-stack observability in one platform. See the full comparison: pydantic.dev/articles/ai-obs…

there's a whole class of SaaS companies right now that are too big to become AI-native and too small to survive as incumbents. they'll spend the next 18 months bolting a chat interface onto their product but are destined to become an MCP

“Well you see, honey, there were some employees at OpenAI who worried about the AI taking over, so they built a thing called Claude. Then another guy made a thing called Clawdbot, and Claude made him rename it to Moltbot. Then someone made a website called Moltbook for the Moltbots to talk to each other, tho it’s more like Moltreddit. And yeah anyway it’s funny or maybe really bad who knows lol”
