i’ll never stop saying “i told you so” because i did and it was just insane to me that people couldn’t allow themselves to go against the grain.
especially when the conversation had been captured by people with partisan intentions.

its really remarkable how strong slow horses is over 6 seasons. I've seen a lot of complaining about season 6, but frankly having watched all of it twice over there is no discernible quality drop, its just a more River-focused season, and combining two books with plots that are--

I don’t think one can use AI to write.
I see nothing wrong with using AI to edit your work given how ubiquitous AI use is but I’m perhaps a minority.
Calling for AI transparency only incentivises more people to hide as the purists are in charge.
New for @chronicle: Dartmouth provost Santiago Schnell's resignation could set a precedent for AI transparency as colleges scramble to identify and adjudicate misuse of AI. chronicle.com/article/dartmo…

Gold is crashing and oil is surging days to Ghana’s 2027 budget reading. This is going to be one of the bigger tests yet for this administration. Favourable external conditions have been a factor (in addition to fiscal consolidation & real sector reforms) to Ghana’s recovery.
This guy's motion on FT is unbelievable and his commitment to the cause is equally unquestionable.

Thank fuck I’ve never been a gambler. One of the most insidious and pointless industries on the planet that largely, negatively, impacts the impoverished. I’d love to see this industry die on its arse.
A man bet €60 on two horses and believed he had turned it into €319,440. Ladbrokes refused to pay, citing a racing investigation he wasn’t part of. He launched High Court proceedings, and a year later he got a fraction of it.
– Dylan Phelan, 25, from Dungarvan in County Waterford, worked at a racing stable for trainer Declan Queally.
– On April 19, 2024, he walked into a Ladbrokes shop in Limerick City and placed a €30 each-way double on two of Queally’s horses.
– He took Ladbrokes’ early prices of 80/1 and 125/1.
– Rocky’s Diamond won a maiden hurdle at Limerick, and 22 minutes later Diamond Nora won a mares’ maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe.
– His €60 stake had become €319,440.
– But when he went to collect, Ladbrokes wouldn’t pay.
– The company said it would hold the bet until the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board finished investigating the two races.
– Race stewards had referred both winners to the regulator because of their apparent improvement in form.
– The regulator confirmed that Phelan was not under investigation.
– Other bookmakers had paid him on smaller bets on the same horses.
– Ladbrokes’ shop terms capped the payout on a bet like his at €100,000.
– Phelan said the investigation had nothing to do with him.
– Ladbrokes said it waits for an investigation to finish when a sporting body is looking into events it has taken notable bets on.
– Phelan launched High Court proceedings and waited for a hearing date.
– More than a year later, his story went public and spread to millions of views online.
– Eleven days later, in April 2025, Ladbrokes agreed to settle the bet after talks with the regulator.
– He was paid €100,000, not the €319,440 on his ticket.
He risked €60 on a double that won €319,440. Both horses won, the regulator cleared him, and he waited a year while Ladbrokes held his money. In the end, he was paid, but only a third of what his ticket said.
A good copywriter could've landed this ad properly. Cos a better iteration of the same message would be "Are you ready to move"
Keeps the pace and rhythm of the ad.
The "join us" at the end throws off the reader and kills the momentum that has been built.
But what do I know?

Cristiano kicked off a new era for wingers and made them realize they could be the biggest game-changers, and that was peak 2008. Cristiano played 2008 as a traditional midfielder by the standards of the time. We won't ever see that again.

Foreign fans who say match going fans should just boycott games have no clue what they are talking about. You lose that season ticket and the club will pass it up to someone on the very very long waiting list in a matter of micro seconds. You won’t get that ticket back for 5 yrs.
