Not just PHP. Node.js has also announced security releases for October 21, with HIGH-severity vulnerabilities affecting its 26.x, 24.x and 22.x release lines. If you run either stack in production, keep an eye on official advisories and apply patches promptly. Security maintenance doesn't stop at your application code. Your runtime matters too. It looks like finally PHP is dead
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites. Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors. Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact. This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare. openai.com/index/coordinated…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Wiz Research wasn't the first one to discover the exploit. An independent researcher first discovered it: x.com/calif_io/statu…

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Weeks ago, I started building Worldfolk-a world where we can experience Accra through a game 🇬🇭🎮 Building this alone hasn’t been easy 😂 Every street, building and small detail takes time, and there’s still so much to do to bring the city to life. I can’t wait for @georgeranch and @koboateng engines to be ready. I’d love to use them to take Worldfolk further. For now, I’m opening up the project to anyone who wants to contribute. Whether you code, design or create art, I’d love for you to be part of building this world. Contribute: github.com/samuelaidoo45/wor… Explore: worldfolk.world/

Shango unleashes thunder and a Storm of Axes in AKOFENA I built AKOFENA to put African legends in players’ hands, using ReluSpatial, the browser game engine I built. Seeing @LagosLifeApp grow reminds me why a link matters: people can open a high quality game with good graphics in the browser and play without an install or platform wars. Play Akofena now: akofena.reluspatial.com/

I've been working on Clay, a game engine for the web. Rust compiled to wasm and threejs for core rendering and game logic, React for UI shell. #threejs Here's the entire Accra built in 3D for a game in Flight. You may see some places you know. More work on going. Deploying soon!

We grew up playing GTA San Andreas, exploring cities inspired by California and Nevada. But what if it was Accra? Streets we know, places we recognise, our own city 🇬🇭🎮 That’s the idea behind Worldfolk, which I’m building: a GTA-style experience set in Accra. worldfolk.world/

The game engine is using actual geographical map data. So when you see Accra, you’re looking at the real Accra, not a fictional city. You can walk around, explore the city, and even fly over it. The character is a bit off 😂 ive been working on this engine for only 18 hours. Give me time
