Growing up, a hit song crossed demographics whether the genre was your favorite or not. People who donât primarily listen to country still know Dolly, Shania, Carrie, The Chicks, etc. because they made actual hit records that crossed over. If a song can spend 23 weeks at #1, breaking records that stood for 20+ years, while a huge portion of the public is sincerely saying theyâve never heard it, maybe the conversation isnât âpeople hate country.â Maybe @RollingStone should be writing about how streaming-era chart dominance no longer equals cultural dominance because thereâs some trickery at play. Thatâs the real story being avoided. Donât gaslight us.
What Some Folks Really Mean When They Claim to Have Never Heard âChoosinâ Texasâ
Proclaiming you're unfamiliar with Ella Langley's record-setting song has a lot in common with saying "I listen to anything but country."

Ms. Rachel blasts Republican Christian hypocrisy: âLetâs be a more Christian nation and take away SNAP benefits. Letâs be a more Christian nation and put our neighbors and put the strangers in detention centers. Letâs make more and more money and not help others and letâs deny peopleâs healthcare. But the SNAP thing, that just breaks me. Youâre gonna complain about a child having enough food?â

Congratulations to @JocelynBenson, @AbdulElSayed, and all the candidates up and down the ticket who earned our partyâs nomination here in Michigan.
Now itâs time to come together and deliver the case that Democrats must make over the next 90 days, everywhere we go. We will win because we know how to team up, and because our message speaks across party lines to what most Michiganders already believe:Â
If youâve had enough of the White House sending Americaâs service members and tax dollars into an endless new Middle East war, while gas prices are going up here at home, welcome aboard.Â
If you want leaders, from Lansing to Washington, who are prepared to lower the cost of living, improve health care, and confront corruption, we are asking for your vote.Â
If you believe the people we elect from Michigan should prioritize serving you and your family - not their own pockets and certainly not blind allegiance to the President - please join us.
Together, through the ballot box, we can change the direction of our country, fix our broken politics, and deliver an economy worthy of the American dream.
