NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way."
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

Two years ago, Jake Bauers told his agent he was retiring. His wife would return to teaching while he stayed home with their child.
Three days later, she told him she was pregnant. He returned to baseball for the health insurance.
Tonight, he hit the go-ahead home run in the NLCS.
What a story. What a swing.

With multiple Wild Card spots on the line, one of the most INSANE nights in baseball history unfolded 🤯
auh, u par dana od početka sezone odmah nekoliko nenormalnih završnica
Every youth coach in the world: “Don’t dribble into the corner when protecting a lead!”
Tenerife: does it twice in the same possession.
They survive both traps.
But then the basketball gods still find a way to punish 😅

Justin Verlander's ending was one for the ages. Had to add the moneyball music, because how in the heck can you not be romantic about baseball after something like that?

Your role is different than your value.
Your role is what the team needs from you today.
Your value is what you bring every day.
You can count your minutes or make your minutes count.
