crypto since “web3”: not those things

Hi,
I'm shutting down @interfacedapp, it's been running in maintenance mode for the last half a year to free up some space and minimise the burn to survive and reflect what to do with it going forward, unfortunately I don't see a sustainable path forward.
I'm extremely grateful to everyone who's been supportive of us during our, what I would call a decent overall run since 2022, we had our ups and downs, iterated on a lot of novel ideas, wrote a lot of code with our actual hands, grew a bit, even for a period were profitable, then became complacent, over compromised couple of times and in the end failed to scale, nevertheless I'm very grateful for the opportunity and experience.
A sad day for me, but as the saying goes: "better late than never", it's time to close this chapter.
Thank you everyone who became part of this journey, our early crowdfund supporters and friends who suggested to pursue this idea, our incredible team with whom we've shipped great product for it's time, for our investors, especially @polymorphiccap who were the first to believe in us in a middle of a dead market.
I sure hope that Interface was a net positive, regardless of the end result one might rightly call – a failed experiment in consumer crypto – an experimented built on an idea what a social network could look like when it is built by combining together various blockspace primitives in a mutual aid manner, sadly many of these primitives are long gone, and now it is time for us to go too.
Thank you!
Yours wijuwiju.eth
honest question but in tech is there a threshold for how much money someone needs to have before they would grow a backbone?
opted out of Farcaster. embarrassed and humiliated tbh. i miss my people on there and hope will cross paths with them again on the internet.
fuck your techno-fascist machine.
it’s not like when borrowing was cheap we modernized the grid or built high-speed rail or water infrastructure or bridges and highways or fiber optic or education or climate resilience

charging money for intros is the lowest signal beta cuck move one can possibly do. karma rewards those who help their friends.
your network is to be used to help others, do good.

Why are we paying the USPS to deliver what seems like nothing but junk mail, only to turn around and pay the city trash service to haul it off to a landfill? We’re literally paying to have trash delivered to our house—and then paying again to get rid of it.
(am i ok? do i need to sit down? what is happening?)
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models
“I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that.
“With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor.
“You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something.
“That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’
“I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”
this is my third Hooptober. i’ve lost two days to traveling but i start now🙂↕️👻
