I hate stopping between sets to log reps into an app. so I built a gym copilot for ray-ban meta glasses → auto-detects the lift, counts reps, tracks tempo, runs your whole workout. no phone, no logging (just a clean json after). also noodling on real time voice coaching, imagine looking at a mirror and hearing "flatten your back" the second you start rounding on a deadlift please make fun of me if im still fat by eoy

so thats why i can't lose weight, turns out it was a gt3rs deficiency all along
I’m watching three friends lose 11 lbs of body weight in a race car tomorrow + Tobias Lutke (founder shopify) + DHH (creator ruby on rails) + Mathias Beche (le mans podium) Race car driving is insane… + 122°F cockpit + heart rate 170 + 2.5 hours straight + 10 hr race + up to 4.2 g force (wild) + multi-layer fireproof suit + sweat barely evaporate + 600-900 calories per hour The race is a 10-hour endurance track in atlanta. It’s called Motul Petit Le Mans. Tomorrow is the season finale, where 54 cars across multiple classes run roughly 400 laps of the 2.54-mile road. The race doesn’t end till 10 pm. They’ll be driving an LMP2: + 603 horsepower + 2,050 pounds + 9,000 rpm I’ve personally experienced some of the above things: > core body temp of 102°F > 3 g force in my airplane > non evaporative clothing > stomping 200 lbs > severe dehydration But never all at once… inside a race car for 2.5 hours straight, competing for tenths of a second, and in a high risk environment. I’m struggling to get my head around it. Last week, Tobi and I were at a conference catching up. He and I have been friends for 15 years. Tobi and DHH were my first customers at my payments startup Braintree. I’ll forever be grateful to them and DHH’s co-founder @jasonfried for giving my company life. Tobi approaches racing as I do my body. Data, method and analysis. A closed loop game of continuous improvement. Off the track, Tobi: + founder and ceo of Shopify + 6 million+ merchants + $195 billion market cap + 20 yrs building Off the track, DHH: + created Ruby on Rails + co-founder 37signals + 20 yrs building + profitable, no outside capital + 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner On the track, Mathias Beche: + 24 Hours of Le Mans podium finisher + European Le Mans Series LMP2 + FIA Endurance Championship winner + 15+ career prototype victories What a team of bad asses. I’m excited to be in the pit on tomorrow and watch all of this go down.

Your team is too close. Your friends are too nice. Your investors are too busy. It’s time for an honest opinion on your brand. For SF @Techweek_ by a16z, we’re hosting Potato Meter, our spin on Rotten Tomatoes for startup brands. Think: a panel’s critique, an audience verdict, and potatoes that can take a roast. Submit your site and let a room full of founders and marketers score it with… potato paddles. Scoring alongside the audience: @Chen (Partner, a16z), @morgane_paloma (VP of Marketing, Braintrust), @malthe (Head of Craft, Stripe). But first, @papayamaya from Marketing.fan sits each of them down to talk about the work they're known for. Sign up here → partiful.com/e/Ho7ram64t8T4H…

my first business as a teenager was selling wow accounts that I botted to lvl 60 lost a bunch because someone whispered “u a bot?” at 3am while I was asleep, that was the captcha and it's now solved. assume every new online friend / guildmate is ai - give it a year and it'll be screaming cyka blyat in your csgo lobby too
Jev is an AI model built for fast, low-cost decisions that went viral yesterday. It plays doom on its own because of low cost/latency decision. This will be the SOTA for World of Warcraft bots.

to put stripe's $8b openrouter deal in perspective: that's just 1/4 of roblox market cap... or a measly ~2 weeks of microsoft datacenter capex. and yet every podcast i hear calls it insanely inflated? sounds like 2012, when zuck paid $1b for instagram, which at the time had like 10 people and did zero revenue. in retrospect an s-tier defensive move against mobile, helping meta get where it is today - that is to a $1.7t valuation, 1700x the ticket size everyone ridiculed back then. history rhymes and that $8b is once again a function of where the spend is moving, not what openrouter makes today. ...ALSO stripe bought metronome recently (usage metering for openai and anthropic + humblebrag: we designed their design system). now they add the side that pays for the tokens and effectively own the entire stack: from metering through flow to settlement. stripe is about to know the gross margin of every ai startup, not even before its board does but effectively in real time. $8b for that seems like a steal.

local AI people are basically preppers but with 4-bit qwen quants instead of canned beans
The $200 plan buys you billions of subsidized frontier token plus the harness: search, cloud agent, remote, etc. Sure you can run a relatively small model on your own Mac Ultra for $10K or whatever the lease cost is, but it won't be close, and that same model will be available for dirt cheap from any inference provider anyway. As of today, local only makes sense if you need it to be local, that's about it.

My hottest take is that brand marketing is going to be THE major differentiator and one of the most prized assets for a company going forward. And, I’m not talking about launch videos or pouring money primarily for “aesthetics” simply to pump the valuation. You still need retention before attention. I’m talking about thinking through what a company stands for and understanding the “vibe” of what’s happening in the market. Being relentless on the long term goal while also thinking through how to showcase the company in the short term. And doing it every week. Especially if you think agents become the primary user for most products, then to get the attention of a rapidly attention deficit audience (aka humans) you’ll need to stand out consistently in how you present the company. These folks primary have been given tier 2 roles and passed up for CMOs many many times. I think this will finally invert in the next 10 years where you’ll hire these folks as cofounders or at least give them a big seat at the table. Normally the design centric CEO tends to be this, but those are rare and you’ll need to learn how to hire for this role. Just like a good product marketer, these are exceptionally rare so you have one hold them close!!
