Announcing webrtcforthecurious.com - Go beyond the APIs.
A WebRTC book that teaches how all the protocols work in depth, not just a tour of the APIs
Get the full details of ICE, SCTP, DTLS, SRTP, and how they work together
Contributing to Open Source lets you have such a big impact on the world. You could be born anywhere in the world, come from any background. If you contribute to Pion your code will be used by.
* OpenAI
* Cloudflare
* LiveKit
* Twitch
* NetBird
* (lots more we don't know about)
Pion is one of the best open source projects around. Basically everyone running WebRTC at scale, including OpenAI, relies on it.
nitter.cf/_pion/status/210465670…
Work has started on Pion WebRTC v5 github.com/pion/webrtc/issue…
Lots of great stuff like
* ECN
* DTLS v1.3
* SPED
* Cryptex
Anything useful we could be adding. Would also love your help! If you are interested in getting involved in Free Software this is a great chance!

for folks curious about media over quic (moq), here is moqforthecurious.com
i was learning moq and found webrtc for the curious really helpful, so i figured why not make something similar for moq
moq is still evolving, so things will change. this is an introduction and a collection of resources i've found useful while learning.
This is *VERY* cool go check it out
* WebRTC on ESP32 means more hobbyists/startups are gonna build more hardware. Interesting stuff not just safe corporate projects!
* Major company is publicizing (more eyes trust)
* Rust on microcontollers! Uses str0m, very exciting.
Did you know an ESP32-S3 can connect to Cloudflare over WebRTC?
We made a pocket radio example for you and your agents to build from:
developers.cloudflare.com/re…
It sends audio and telemetry to browsers, and one listener can control it. You could adapt it to a camera or robot.
werift-webrtcでもDTLS 1.3を実装中なので、とても助かる情報が貰えてありがたいです!
DTLS 1.3 in Go: An Implementer’s Perspective - pion.ly/blog/dtls-one-three/
DTLS 1.3 has quite a few cool features/upgrades. Wrote some down so you can see the cool stuff coming your way. Also a few notes on stuff that was surprising or frustrating while building it.

if you ever have to read, debug, or hand-write SDP, try explainer.pion.ly/
It's an interactive SDP explainer and debugger built by @supadotsh Great for debugging WebRTC, SIP, RTSP, or just finally learning what every SDP line actually does.
OpenAI/@juberti has upstreamed and done a bunch of fantastic work on Pion. I really appreciate it!
* Multiple bug fixes across multiple repos (ICE/WebRTC)
* Opus work
So grateful for talking about Pion usage also. It gets people excited to contribute/motivates existing people.
One other WebRTC thing we did for GPT-Live: we worked with @_pion to build a production-quality Opus decoder in Go, and are now using it in our systems. It supports the full Opus bitstream, has performance close to the C version, and is much more secure!

Real-time voice agents shouldn’t require stitching together WebRTC, STT, an LLM, and TTS, then debugging latency across four different systems.
StreamCore brings the entire voice loop into one open-source Go server.
Apache 2.0. Self-hosted. Clone it, configure it, and start building.

I’ve got a DJI 4 Pro that doesn’t support WHIP, but I can learn to use the MSDK and develop something that may work with WHIP.
QUIC as Multiplexing Layer in WebRTC - dl.acm.org/doi/epdf/10.1145/…
Written by @MathisEngelbart a core author of Pion!
Have Media + DataChannel not be in contention, send file but be media aware
Pretty magical if all WebRTC traffic could get 'QUIC Upgrade' without users noticing!
Great opportunity to talk with someone directly building great webrtc services
Cloudflare exposes webrtc primitives (WHIP and TURN) and contributes to Pion, fantastic group of people
hi everyone! I'm a PM intern on RealtimeKit at @Cloudflare, the SDK for adding live video, voice, and chat to any web or mobile app without building WebRTC yourself.
Using it, want to learn more, or have feedback? Would love to chat, DMS are open or book time with me below 🫡

I’m building a #pion based ai first SFU for a up coming project.
And honestly, every serious SFU setup needs a live dashboard like this.
Real-time media infra is too hard to debug blindly.
You need live visibility into rooms, participants, forwarded tracks, relay links, region health, packet loss, jitter, RTT, and egress.
This uses lemonslice.com and LiveKit so probably uses Pion (or maybe it uses a different transport not sure?)
I love this AI roleplaying stuff. Families will go through, and maybe some kids will get curious in tech/history.
Way cooler then productivity tools!
Please update your Pion version for two security fixes. Both are crashes when parsing network input
* stun - github.com/pion/stun/commit/…
* dtls - github.com/pion/dtls/commit/…
If anything is stopping you from updating please reach out, we are always happy to help!
webrtcforthestreamer.com - site + video on how WHIP can improve streaming.
WHIP can make streaming more connected, private, secure and easier to self host. Would love your feedback and thoughts!

Great project!
Running your own stuff on your own network is so important. I love seeing people build their own things that serve them.
Vibecoded: WebRTC TV.
Run the server. Connect from a browser and start camera. Connect from another browser and see the camera feed.
The primary purpose is a private, no-cloud, home security system. The secondary purpose is learning WebRTC, which essentially recreates half of internet protocols inside.

🎙️ Voice AI only feels natural when conversation keeps pace with speech.
Here’s how we rebuilt our WebRTC stack with a thin relay and stateful transceiver to keep real-time media fast for ChatGPT voice, the Realtime API, and more.
