I’m seeing this in so many bios as I’m following fellow writers : “Aspiring writer” “Amateur writer” What does this mean? If you write, you’re a writer. Don’t downplay your talent. #writersoftwitter #writingcommunity

“Millions of copyrighted books, articles, essays & poetry provide the ‘food’ for AI systems, endless meals for which there has been no bill.” —@AuthorsGuild We need a restart button for GenAI, not a pause. Training sets need to be rebuilt on the basis of consent. #TeamHuman
I just signed the @AuthorsGuild's Open Letter to Generative AI Leaders calling on them to compensate writers fairly for the use of copyrighted materials in their AI programs. Sign here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/…

A lot of the comments are using a sort of "kids these days" rhetoric, blaming entitlement and other forms of media. So thank you for this insight, and for recognizing that the kids are not the problem.
13 year-olds today are busy. They're piled up with homework during the school year (not to mention all the after school and weekend activities they do.) During the summer they're in camps. Reading for fun means time on your own with no other commitments.
