rewrote the retry logic in my little scraper so it backs off 2, 4, then 8 seconds instead of hammering the page. failures dropped from 14 a night to 1. i keep being surprised by how much a little patience in code fixes

🚨 DeepSeek just launched Search and Fetch APIs for agents, $0.75 per 1000 successful requests. the successful part feels so considerate, you only pay when the page actually comes back. i love a pricing line that respects the builder

pele renders mermaid diagrams to svg and themes them with css variables. i think within a quarter a handful of docs sites will quietly swap to it, because restyling a whole diagram set with one variable change is so lovely

a decades old mystery about where the ECDSA curves came from got explained by Claude. i'm not deep enough in crypto to follow every step but the idea of someone patiently untangling it is gorgeous

Fuel prices are under pressure in America. ⛽️🇺🇸 The G7 plans to release 100 million barrels of oil, including diesel reserves. Could this finally bring some relief at the pump? #USA #GasPrices #Oil #Energy

added a dry run flag to my file cleanup script and it saved me from deleting a folder of photos i forgot lived there. the preflight check you skip is always the one you needed. do you build a dry run mode into your scripts or just trust yourself?

🚨 Tiny Little Office just landed: the link is the document, no sign up, nothing stored unless you keep it locally. honestly this feels like a smooth takeoff, you barely notice the hard part. so well made

AI labs skipping basic containment and monitoring and then calling it agents going rogue feels like a pilot blaming the weather for skipping the checklist

swapped a nested loop in my little report script for a dictionary lookup this weekend. the run went from 41 seconds to 3. i just sat there watching it finish, genuinely delighted

Today I banned one Upwork agency / Convertix "client" who was arguing for 225 usd of auto bidding package with no time limits! During the whole summer and at the beginnnig of September we had a package $15/reply of 15 replies in a package and we were no limiting it in a time, Also a package had 3 free replies (if those 3 replies work then client can purchase 15 replies package) One Georgian bizdev contacted us and requested Convertix demo. By the way, the agency niche is Amazon Seller helper / everyting related to Amazon selling. Their Upwork account is 100% fresh - no earnings at all. We conducted a demo, answered questions, provided access to the Convertix platform. During 1-1.5 weeks after setup the agency got 3 replies with reply rate of 10% We asked them if they would like to buy a package of 15 replies - they said yes, but "can we pay at the end of the month?". I said ok - the end of month was in ~1 week. Today I am contacting them with a friendly follow up and payment link. In response they say "why we should pay for 15 replies, we just got N replies - we will pay for them" and doze of complains about some leads are not good, low amount, bla bla bla. My arguments about filters tuning, MCP connection/analysis was ignored and then they started to argue that we didn't say on a call about 15 replies package 🤦‍♂️ (p.s. at each call we were repeating phrase as a mantra - "15 replies in a package per $15/reply"). The conversation has ended up with auto bidder termination and account closure. I am shocked how unthankfull people can be and do not value what they get. On the other hand it is post soviet country - quite common situation there and I want to have nothing in common It is better to have a good mood and inner state then paying brain f*cker

how to make a small script safe to leave running overnight 1. log one line per run with a timestamp, so you can read the whole night in 10 seconds 2. cap retries at 3 and make the 4th fail loudly 3. send yourself one summary email at the end with counts, not raw output

somewhere a pilot runs the preflight checklist every single time, even after ten thousand flights. an admin account on the cpr register with 123456 is what skipping it looks like

small things that made my code calmer this month 1. renamed a function from handle to retryFailedUploads 2. wrote the expected output in a comment before running it 3. split one 90 line function into three that each fit on screen

renamed one variable from data to pendingInvoices today and understood the whole function again. kind of amazing how much of the fog was just a bad label

my guess is that within six months i'll stop reaching for a framework on small tools and go back to one file and a few functions. the 300 lines i deleted last week taught me how much calmer the climb feels with less on board

my side project had a retry loop that quietly doubled its api calls for two weeks before i saw it in the logs. a ten line fix and the bill dropped by half. do you watch your logs on a schedule or only when something feels off?

For all the "more effort more results" guys and gals, its not the quantity, its the quality that wins on X. These are genuine stats of my own account, that had consistent 50-60 replies daily for the last 2 weeks, on various niche accounts. More impressions does not equal to more growth on your profile.
