Hi everyone.
I am sorry it has been so long since I last checked in with you. As most of you probably know, I was transferred to a new prison to participate in a program that would take a year off my sentence when completed. That journey should have been a simple 4 hour drive, but since I was denied a self transfer furlough the trip took 30 days, two cross country flights, three states, and cost the tax payer well over $10,000 before I finally arrived a couple hundred miles from where I started.
It took me over a month to decompress after the nightmare that is the BOP transit system (you can read all about it in the next installment of Notes From The Inside) and just as I began to settle in here at FCI McKean we received some terrible news. Yesterday we were told by the Warden that the program I travelled all that way for had been "deactivated" and very soon I - along with 70 others in the program - would have to go through the transit system all over again to be sent somewhere where the program was still active. When I first arrived here other inmates warned me that things were rotten here at McKean. What is supposed to be a 9 month program averages 12-16 months here. One of the DTS officers who runs the program was suspended pending investigation and assigned to the mailroom, and many guys had missed their release dates and were forced to spend longer in prison. Why in the world did the BOP spend all that money transiting me and others to a program that was clearly dying on the vine?!
So now the BOP is going to waste around $700,000 shipping all of us around the country. The ridiculous thing is they do not need to shut the program down at all. They have all the pieces in place to push the current participants through. The frontline staff (case managers, counsellors, DTS, etc) are largely empathetic and competent. The failure is one of institutional mismanagement and leadership. A lack of engagement with staff by Regional and institutional leadership has hamstrung staff and inmate alike. Recognizing those institutional failures would require government workers take accountability or be held accountable. Never going to happen! Instead, the taxpayer will be on the hook financially, we'll be shipped out like cattle, and the yokels who couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery will keep their jobs and find something else to screw up.
@leamuirleyn has written to BOP leadership asking them to reconsider shutting the program down and instead send over a temporary leader who can shepherd the current participants through the program. This would save the Bureau and the taxpayer significantly. It is a longshot but one has to try.
So that is the latest update. I have no idea when or where I am going to be shipped. Thank you everyone for your letters, books, prayers, and continued support. It means a lot. Until we speak again...

The Dojo Bay is a fantastic project and when you listen to the procedures @maxtannahill has implemented over the last two months it creates a bedrock that other coders can develop upon when creating trustless deployments.
Here's a list of what he talked about...
Signed pairing credentials (enforced).
Every dojo operator has to sign their pairing code with their BIP47 signature. The site cryptographically verifies each payload against its signature and won't even list a dojo unless it's properly signed. So if anyone (including Max) tampered with a pairing code to point you at a malicious dojo, the signature wouldn't validate.
Auth47 login instead of accounts.
Operators add and manage their own dojo by logging in with Auth47 (scan a challenge QR with Ashigaru/Samourai/Sparrow, sign it). No accounts, no passwords, no contacting Max. Your payment code is your identity, and only you can edit your own listing.
The site itself is signed.
Max signs his .onion URL with his BIP47 payment code (bottom left of his dojobay instance),so a user landing on the site can verify it's genuinely run by Max Tannahill and not a spoofed clone.
Operator websites are verified too.
Any website shown on an operator's entry (like @Multicripto's or my own) is only displayed after a BIP47 verification against a TXT record on that domain. It acts as a Keybase-style proof of ownership, so you know the site really belongs to that nym.
Verifiable independently of the website.
You don't have to trust the site's rendering because you can copy a pairing code and check the signature yourself in your own wallet/tool such as Ashigaru Desktop, my tool on paymentcode dot io, or Ashigaru. Uptime/block-height data is grabbed by the bay authenticating to each dojo directly every ~10 min (not self-reported by operators), and that JSON is downloadable.
Trustless propagation of the code itself.
"Update from GitHub" or "update from peer.onion" and when pulling source from another instance you must enter that peer's BIP47 code, so you only run code from a nym you trust. Full source is downloadable from any instance, so the tool survives him disappearing.
Trustless importing between bays.
You can import dojos from another Dojo Bay, but it'll only pull entries with signed, verified payloads.
A CALL TO ACTION
A decentralized WooCommerce / darknet-only shop. The same directory structure could back an e-commerce equivalent that's better because it's backed by Dojos and more decentralized. the idea being you could spin up your own little shop on your PC really easily, darknet-only. Swap the dojo and hosting a dojobay for a store and hosting a store directory.
A no-KYC directory (KYCnot dot me style). @kycnot could run their website using the same kind of proofs and it would help them more easily manage it.
I hope someone takes on the challenge!

🚨 PLEASE READ AND SHARE 🚨
I have been made aware that the scammers are beginning to fork the code of Ashigaru Desktop and are publishing "releases" on Obtainium.
My github is github.com/linkinparkrulz. That is the the only place you can get releases at the moment.
I have remedies that I am considering for the future, but for now please stay vigilant. You should stick to releases that are followed by blog posts coming from this account.
I will not include the malicious link, but here is a screenshot of the suspect fork.
The project has had its name changed and they have published releases. On the latest release, they have stripped out the release signing actions I use for Ashigaru Desktop.
Please be careful, and feel free to message me OR email. If you are unsure about something.

Oh Lord, I accept my suffering.
Give me all you have planned for me. I know it is glorious, and I understand that whatever is meant to happen now, needs to happen now.
I gratefully accept any hardship you use to strengthen my core. I welcome any struggle you utilise to form my character.
Because I understand, to be a child of yours and a carrier of your light, I am destined to not walk the easy path.
I surrender to your Will, for I alone am weak. Please, take me on and support me on my journey.
All glory to you.
