The Ill-Born of the Gray Queen is a boss I put a ton of time and effort into making a good encounter.

Another dlc boss that could’ve benefited from a bit more narrative is the Scadutree Avatar. What really caught my imagination about this one was how withered and decrepit its third phase looks and acts.
So as a player you’d have a choice: fight fast and try to avoid the blasts, or tank the damage and watch as it slowly destroys itself.
With as fun of a character as Igon is, the Bayle fight could’ve really benefited from being a more story-driven gimmick fight.
Phase one would have you kiting Bayle around as Igon sinks “a hail of harpoons!” in, driving them to the ground. Phase two would be a more traditional dragon fight with Igon landing the final blow (or being eaten) with a great speech.
