On this international day of the girl child, I choose to remember Ochanya Ogbanje, a girl who lost her life in 2018 at age 13 after being ràped for five straight years by her uncle and his son Andrew and Victor Ogbuja. Ochanya developed a vesicovaginal fistula and was leaking urine and poop till she finally passed on on the 17th of October, 2018. Today, a whole eight years later, her abusers walk as free men. The world might be silent about Ochanya’s case and getting her justice but we will never forget her story. I wish to God that does men meet very horrible ends. May Ochanya continue to rest in peace with God.
