I've been working on a small side project: type-annotationify. Migrate full-fledged TypeScript to type-annotated TypeScript compatible with the type annotations proposal and NodeJS's strip-types.

Open source doesn't feel the same anymore with AI. It's lost some of that "hobby" feeling

I really don't want to be vegan.
Because actually I have no problem with killing animals for food - it's just the way of the world.
I don't even really mind torturing animals for food - as long as they're low cognition (fish, insects, etc)
However - I really don't want to participate in the active (often life long) torture of high cognition animals like pigs.
Chickens are pretty dumb, but I'm not down with stuffing them into small cages their whole lives to peck at each other.
Not ok with dairy cow-calf separation.
And the more you look into it, the more you realize that humane sources of meat, dairy, and eggs are VERY hard to come by. Buying the more expensive brand at the grocery store does not imply torture free.
If you're eating bacon, an egg, cheese from a random restaurant - you are participating and enabling animal torture.
These labels "vegan", "vegetarian", "pescatarian" don't work for me. A vegetarian who eats dairy and eggs still participates in torture.
I would lustfully eat a steak that had a good life, or an egg from a non-factory farm.
For all the daily political bullshit that happens - the torture of billions of animals is so rarely discussed.

Why is @t3dotchat recently defaulting to a blank screen when I open the tab after a few hours? Horrible user experience. Am I the only one?

pnpm is an incredible piece of technology. After migrating the StrykerJS mono repo, we see improved install times of up to 8 minutes. Simply incredible!
@pnpmjs you're wonderful! 🦄
.@theo could you make downloadthing? An API based wetranfer-like solution? I would pay money for it. It could probably leverage the infrastructure of uploadthing
.@vercel_support you guys are awesome, but the azure-devops side needs some love now and again. Your deployment task is still on node 16 🤯

I've just added a slide to our React course material. Kudos to the Cloudflare team for being transparent on this matter 👏.

Huge thanks to all the open source projects that've made a lot of the tech we rely on in the world possible:
Linux
Git
FFmpeg
PyTorch & TensorFlow
Apache & Nginx
MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite
Chromium & Firefox
GCC & LLVM
Docker & Kubernetes
Also, all the open-weight LLMs... and all the programming language interpreters, compilers, and frameworks.
I can list 100+ more "niche" open source projects I've used & loved (e.g., OpenCV ❤️). But I just wanted to give a continued big thank you to the open source community for everything you do for humanity 🙏

Educators who don't update their courses do more damage than library authors who update their libraries.
Type-annotationify update! I've found a way to transform namespaces! It's not pretty, but it works quite nicely. Play with it here: nicojs.github.io/type-annota…
