Dress for the weather you want, not the weather you have. (It’s springtime in Oregon.)
We may never know. But the vehement denials of this reasonable hypothesis say a lot about scientific institutions’ liability to be complicit in propaganda. The best writing I’ve encountered on the lab leak hypothesis never could have been published pre-Nov nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…
The coronavirus could have been made in a lab. Virologists often combine viruses found in the wild, creating "GMO" hybrids for legitimate, non-malicious reasons. But there are obvious risks with research that _deliberately_ increases the potency of viruses medium.com/@yurideigin/lab-m…
Does equity have to look like state-sponsored discrimination? I can’t get a precautionary covid test at my publicly-funded med school because I don’t meet the state’s identity group criteria. I get the rationale but oppose racial discrimination.

A critique: The current policy increases risk of false positives, unnecessary quarantine, and loss of work among the population it aspires to support.

The state policy creates a positive feedback loop: More testing of target population will increase the documented infection rate, justifying more resources… It also fails to address low-income people outside the target group while including many high-income people.
This new design is meh. Good riddance to the bad old one and all, but I was hoping for top shelf vexillologically inspired canvas. They started with 3000 submissions, but the selection process put two low-quality finalists on the ballot. Feels familiar.
This will be the new state flag of Mississippi. Voters overwhelmingly approved it. This is a great day for the state as we move forward from a divisive emblem that now rests in the past.

It’s dishonest to blame right-wingers for the death of one of their own when even the left-leaning Oregonian ID's the alleged shooter as self-professed "100% Antifa"

I don't know exactly what happened. I worked in video production long enough to know every camera has an angle. But it is entirely plausible that Reinoehl killed Danielson without any provocation beyond Danielson's attire and participation in the rally.

Asterisk: I'm not a fan of the far right. I don't want Trump to win. If the polarity of the situation were reversed, I'd want the integrity to say the same thing, because when no one can call a spade a spade, our society is unwell.

How lovely! Instead of pixelation, @zoom_us handled low resolution with "Starry Night" swirls today.
*flailing arms and yelling in a high-pitched voice* can everyone making collaboration SaaS just agree on whether the RETURN key in a comment creates a link break or *voice cracks* enters text???
