The data is dated, but in 2023, more than 1,200 vehicles owed DC >20k in unpaid fines. More than 13,400 owed over 5k. These aren’t people struggling to pay a few tickets & who need financial relief. We’re talking about a pattern of blatant & egregious disregard for traffic laws.

In this current economy where unemployment is super high; who does this help? Having the information that the system is already predatory is important, but wishing this on others won’t solve the problem.

Saying this conflates residential usage and grid scale nat gas plants. In reality residential use has slowly been falling for a long time (according to the American Gas Association), making distribution rates less economical.

Nearly a decade of gaslighting about how no one is banning gas stoves and all-electric is cheaper... Yet gas demand continues to rise and policies that restricted gas are being pared back -- all because gas is still cheaper.

These are believed to be the two scooters involved in the likely-fatal crash on Capitol Hill: one is a Lime scooter and the other appears to be personally owned. MPD’s Major Crash Unit has been notified and will be responding. The entire area around Pennsylvania Ave & Eight Street SE remains roped off. – at Washington, DC

Prices rose across the board in Aug 2025, but the biggest policy change was to the CaBi for All reduced fare program which went from unlimited free rides to a more typical pricing model + a $40 monthly credit. Non-members also saw the out-of-dock fee rise from $2 to $3

You are 100 percent correct @_michaelstarnes. DC911/@OUC_DC Director Heather McGaffin, @SafeDC, and @MayorBowser have made a mockery of open government and FOIA in an effort to hide DC911's dirty secrets. I've proven how they've even hidden the truth from loved ones, @councilofdc, and the public on the ones that have had significant news coverage like District Dogs, the drownings under the Douglass Bridge, and the infant death when the 911 computer crashed. As much as I uncover, it doesn't scratch the surface of the serious mistakes that are made daily. I think the trio's biggest success in the 911 field is that no mainstream media organization challenged them on the agency's information policies. We should not ignore what a significant victory that has been for McGaffin, Appiah, and Bowser. That victory comes with a big price tag: A 911 center that continues to fail, impacting and even costing lives. Keep this in mind. One of the only times a 911 recording became public during the Bowser administration was in 2020 after the details of a call-taker's tragic error had been withheld for five months. The 911 director resigned just days later. The administration has worked extremely hard since then to make sure we've never heard another 911 call. #FixDC911 @CMRobertWhiteDC @AnitaBondsDC @Janeese4DC @CMZParker5 @CHendersonBauer @charlesallen @ChmnMendelson @BrianneKNadeau @CMFrumin @CMWendellFelder @CMBrookePinto @tweetelissa @RiniSampath @goodweather4dc @cuneytdil @EmmaUber7 @TheArtist_MBS @oigdc @kpattdc @dclinenews @tomsherwood @NFTC_News @RamirezReports @SegravesNBC4 @ANCCostello @johnson4b06 @ANCJonah @MayorBowser @SafeDC @theHillisHome @PoPville @abeaujon @SchreiberSara @CapitalJeff @Brightwoodian @AlexKomaDC @maustermuhle
This is why open data is also really important, imagine how many of these incidents don't even get reported on.

The terms of the deal would give Therme a 60-year ground lease for $1 rent paid annually for the first 20 years. After that, the land will be appraised and the rent adjusted (upwards, obviously). The spa would be built within six years of the land being handed over.

Cannot imagine putting on a Shakespeare production where creating a custom drink menu is a higher priority than getting off book lol.
You can just do things: putting on a production of Much Ado About Nothing with your friends edition.

Kind of a nice gag that basically none of these people either work on AI/datacenter policy and even the ones who are journalists don't cover those issues
Why do you love data centers? I asked partygoers what they thought tonight 👇

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid says Pakistan’s recent strikes on Afghanistan were coordinated with Saudi Arabia and Turkey to create a pretext for exiting the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, and to keep Islamabad locked in conflict with Kabul. #Pakistan #Aghanistan
