Hi, friends. It'a been a minute.
A while back, I discovered social media does odd - at best - things to my brain, though I like staying connected. Intentional communities, however, (Slack/Discord) are a-ok, so I'm scooting to Mastodon (for many reasons): xoxo.zone/@micada
Woke up early and grabbed ☕️ and a 🗞!

Our unit members were excited to pick up the print version of our NYT announcement this morning! 📰
Did you pick up a copy? Send us a pic!

Democrats believe that when workers are strong, America is strong.
We are eager for our union to be recognized by @DNC leadership and to work with @SEIULocal500 to offer our staff the support we need to continue electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

This is big news! Staff at the Democratic National Committee have signed cards to join SEIU Local 500. They will be the first national party organization to have a unionized workplace!

There's not much I'm more proud of than this work of the last two years, and that's saying something. As the newest in a line of four generations of union members (and second-generation SEIU), I'm honored to continue the legacy of united workers that came before us and join them.
NEW: The DNC will be unionized through the SEIU, the first time a national party organization will have a unionized work force. nytimes.com/2021/08/03/us/po…
It's true! @TheDemocrats are adding an Engineer to our amazing team. We're looking for folks with a bit of scrappiness, a bunch of persistence and a lot of enthusiasm to make an impact every day! 💙🗳

You: People from Chicago need to shut up about Chicago
People from Chicago:
Excited to be on the panel for the first @WomenTechSummit: Connect of 2021! The topic is near and dear to me: "Volunteering to Grow Your Career." It's next Thursday with some amazing technologists and I'm looking forward to it! 💙 💙💙eventbrite.com/e/wits-connec…
I've not forgotten the opening salvo from that man was betting against me and mine: "criminals", "rapists." I'm ECSTATIC @joebiden and @kamalaharris are our next POTUS and VP.
I'm here to come collect on that bet, to tell these people one thing.
Y'all done fucked up.
Goodbye.

Remember when we acknowledged Equal Pay Day for women back in April? Well, today is *finally* Latina Equal Pay Day, which marks the day that Latinas finally catch up to what their white male counterparts earned in 2019.
It’s long past time that we end the gender pay gap.

"If we want more individuals with under-indexed identities to consider a career in tech (and maybe even in political tech), it’s up to those of us with the power to make change and be visible to show that there is a place for them." Read our latest interview with Mica Alaniz:
I had the privilege to be nominated by my local chapter of @latinas_tech for this Spotlight Profile! I am so grateful to be able to do this work (especially now!) and the chat with the @nounproject was a pleasure. 💙🗳👩🏾💻
