The way Steve taught us to care about every detail, every experience, every person, still guides our work today. Forever grateful.
There are people who leave a mark on the world, and then there are people who change it entirely. Steve changed the world and so many lives in the process. He certainly changed my life forever. His spirit lives on in everything he created and everyone he inspired.

Today I watched the @SnazzyLabs video on open source Mac apps, and man, @vorssaint is the best. Even after 6 years on macOS, it brings everything I’ve missed from Windows. I donated a few bucks to the dev. Support them if you can too. github.com/sponsors/vorssain…

haven't watched it yet (so i don't know if he liked vorssaint or not lol), but just seeing it in the thumbnail made me so happy. one of my favorite channels, run by one of the nicest people, mentioning it already has my heart beating a little faster
this is incredible! vorssaint also just passed 130 contributors on github… 130!!!! and over 22k stars. so many good things happening 🪐🖤
Some of the best apps coming to the Mac right now are free and open-source. Today, I talk about many of the best ones I've tried this year! youtube.com/watch?v=Aea2DUX4…

I wrote this close to a year ago and just found it in my notes app, and I feel it more than ever so I thought id post it
I’ve been thinking for a while, the opposite of AI music maybe isnt human music. It’s making music.
The process is the magic. I think anyone whos been lucky enough to make music, or make anything, has been able to feel this in different ways since forever.
I think this is maybe why ive felt no pull whatsoever to even try it. I place so so so much of my identity in that process, and I haven’t found that to be a negative place to put it.
So I have really no desire to do less of that bit. Because that bit is kind of where I find myself most clearly
and it’s also my meditation, daily compass. Giving the process bit to a machine would be intrinsically contrary to what I love about the whole thing.
The clumsy dedicated tumbling towards an idea isss the thing we are most lucky to get to do. The hours and hours and years and years of endlessly trying to make the thing you wish could exist.
Theres lot of things im worried about AI threatening, but that will never be one.

Been using the M5 Ultra Mac Studio for the past week and predictably it is the most powerful computer I've ever used.
At this point, the improvements are not even targeted at me (a video creator) anymore. They're targeted at being the best machines for local AI work. There's nothing I can make Final Cut do with 256GB of unified memory that it couldn't do with 128GB
It's been fascinating to see how even the way Apple talk about the computer over the years has changed. The name studio did a lot of lifting, and they showed off 3D, video workflows, development, etc. Now the site is FULL of local AI apps and use cases.
So I'm also happy to report it's a great computer that's almost completely unnecessary for every video creator like me that's not doing 3D work. You do not need to spend the $10K+ that this Mac costs. But if you do? It absolutely rips.
