A NURF-fest at the Chest Wall Injury Society International conference, with two presentations from my team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, & one from Eva-Corina Caragounis.
These studies covered radiological assessment, #BoneGrafting techniques, & outcomes (#QualityofLife and #LungFunction). More published data are required, as we move into exciting @CWISociety collaborative projects to improve our understanding of #RibFractures healing & #NonUnion
Unlike Christmas, @CWISociety comes twice a year. It's a great pleasure for @Sheff_Thoracic to be at #CWISInternational26 in #barcelona with several presentations from the Sheffield Multiple Rib Fractures Study.

I’ve just been asked in LinkedIn what are the most surprising findings from the 10 years that @Sheff_Thoracic have been running SMuRFS - the Sheffield MUltiple #RibFractures Study - @SheffieldHosp? Well, it’s a long list, & here are the highlights:
4/ - the striking difference in the level of #CostalMargin Rupture associated or not with #IntercostalHernia
- the focused sector and level localisation of #ribfractures associated with CMR+IH
- the continued discovery of findings which have diagnostic and management value.
5/ and finally, the value and satisfaction of seeing @shefunihealth @shefunistudents @SheffSurgSoc students flourish with a gentle nudge in the right direction
