There is a difference between working hard and living under constant pressure.
Hard work develops skills, creates opportunities and produces results.
Excessive anxiety can cloud judgment.

Do you all know Opeyemi Famakin?
Yes?
Good!
What do you know him for?
A food critic, right?
Well...
That's not what I want to talk about.
There was a time this same guy started claiming that nobody in the whole of Nigeria smelled better than him.
Nobody!
He bought expensive perfumes, showcased his collections, and kept talking about how good he smelled.
People dragged him.
He doubled down.
They challenged him.
He made more videos.
LOL...
And gradually...
Beyond food criticism, people started associating him with perfumes.
Today, he has built a recognisable identity around fragrances.
Now...
There's a lesson here that many entrepreneurs will never understand.
Being good at what you do is one thing.
And making the market recognise you for it is another thing entirely.
You can be the most competent person in your industry and still struggle to make sales.
Meanwhile, someone with comparable competence is making millions.
Not necessarily because he's better.
But because he understands the market cannot reward a value it doesn't know exists.
And that's why positioning is extremely important in business.
You must deliberately influence what people remember you for.
Because when a need arises, customers rarely consider every available business.
They start with the names that come to mind.
And if your name never comes to mind, your competence may never get the opportunity to compete.
So...
If you're going into any business, GO IN WITH YOUR BALLS.
Have guts.
Talk about what you do.
Showcase your competence.
Demonstrate your value.
Make bold claims you can defend.
And stop waiting for people to accidentally discover you.
But remember...
Attention is not profit.
You must be good enough to deliver on the expectations your visibility creates.
Because publicity can bring customers once.
Only value can give them a reason to return.

I announced my business consultation fee to be 7,500 last week.
And my business plan is 59,000.
I did this so a lot of people can have access to a very sound consultant.
But as I kept working on launching everything, I started to feel worthless at those prices.
Because those prices made me feel like I was hungry and I didn't know what I was doing.
2 days ago, I decided that anyone who would access me wouldn't pay less than 25k for 30min.
And the starting fee to plan your business for you is 125k.
"Who will pay?"
I don't care.
Thousands of people burn money every year moving from one business to another without success.
Many of those businesses can actually become successful.
I have proven it.
I have shown it.
So, no sweats.
Keep saving up to start a business every year.
I will be here when you are at the height of your frustration.
And in case you get here and my account has been taken down...
Just type madprofitguy on your Google.
You will find me.
But before then, you can tell me if risking your 5m on your ignorance is worth it.
You will also tell me if 25k or 125k is worth a lifetime investment that gives you the ultimate success that you need.
I am not going back. 25k is times four of 7,500.
And 125k is more than times 2 of 59k.
For now, I will keep attending to business people whose frustration is at its peak.
Till the peak frustration gets to your turn.
It's not a curse.
I have said so because running a business is extremely difficult already.

Last Saturday...
As I was adjusting the throw pillows on my couch to support my head so I could zoom out of the world just for a while, a message came in...
"How much is this?"
Forwarded to the sales team, and got back to her.
Then she sent another picture:
"How much is this?"
Forwarded to the sales team again and got back to her.
A very fast process.
And no...
I am not the one in charge of customer service, but because I linked my device to monitor what is going on, I can see and respond to anything if I wish to.
Said okay, that she was going to go get them at the store in the evening.
But something happened immediately she dropped her last message.
I asked her:
" Do you have a customer account with us?"
And her response straight up was:
"Is there any need for that?"
Then I responded:
"Please ma, let us open an account for you. I will explain what it does."
Now stop here.
STOP HERE!
Go and read the chat before coming back.
You saw that she was impressed and gave me solid attention?
Till she got an alert for the registration, and even shared it with me?
Yes.
That's the whole essence of my story.
Every business or product has its features.
These features could be the ingredients in the products, and it could be anything.
But your customers do not know anything about these features.
And what they will never do is browsing what the features of your business will do for them.
All they want is benefit.
Look at the Cosmetics Industry, for instance.
Many of the features in any cosmetics product come from the ingredients.
A popular ingredient is "Hyaluronic Acid."
But do you know that, as popular as this ingredient is, many people reading this do not know its benefits?
Or let's just say people do not know about it.
But...
Do you tell a customer XYZ Cream contains Hyaluronic Acid, and the customer automatically buys it?
No.
But what if you tell the customer that it contains hyaluronic acid, which attracts and retains water, helping her skin stay hydrated, soft, smooth, and plump...
What next?
"How much?"
Now, let's assume the price is beyond the customer's budget... What happens?
The customer goes back home, checking in the mirror every day.
Even though she has a hydrated, soft, and smooth face already...
She will feel that her face is not soft and smooth enough.
You know why?
Because she has not used that product that contains Hyaluronic Acid yet.
And that's the clear difference between features and benefits.
Many of you business owners...
Instead of marketing benefits, you market features.
And from a business standpoint, customers will never understand your features unless you communicate the benefit of those features.
Or, better still, they go with a business that communicates benefits for them.
But then, there is a crazy thing.
Some people do not even know the features of their business or products or services.
So today...
I am going to help you understand this.
Even if you don't know the features your business/products/ services offer, I will help you come up with some.
And also help you come up with the benefits that you can easily market to your customers.

Sometimes we get bored, tired, exhausted, feeling sick when there's actually no sickness. It shows we're human yeah, even from the scriptures we saw there was a time God regretted creating man, Jesus wished the cup could pass over. I say to you, do not let these kind of moments define where you're going to. Dust yourself up, keep looking after your health, keep pushing day after day, so long as you have life and health, your time will come!
Blessed week!!!

I served in Ogun State in 2008. I was batch A stream 1 set. My federal allowie then was โฆ9700 but my PPA was paying me a monthly stipend of โฆ35,000.
In the photograph was Major Bala Garke, our camp commandant, in the middle and Ikechukwu, one of my platoon members and hostel mate, on the right. Iyke studied Maths and Stats from Unilag while I studied Chemical Engineering from LAUTECH.
#CorpersDiary #OgunCorper
I served in 1998. While my fellow corpers were collecting โฆ200 monthly as government alawee, I was earning โฆ12,000 a month!
But before you celebrate my good fortune, let me tell you something.
I was once the hungry corper other people had to feed.
Here is my story. โค๏ธ๐๐ฟ
After NYSC camp, I was rejected at my place of primary assignment.
I eventually found an office where the MD told me plainly:
โI don't have money to pay a corper.โ
Something within me said, โWork for her anyway.โ
So I stayed.
One day, I accompanied her to a marketing event at Oba during the Pope's visit to Nigeria in March, 1998. There, I met Mr Charles Iloegbunam of Cowbell and introduced myself as an artist.
Meanwhile, a senior corper named Lanre had given me somewhere to stay opposite Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha.
Every evening, we gathered at the school to gist.
One evening, a senior corper began teaching us the secrets of surviving on โฆ200.
โDon't eat fish. Don't eat meat. If you need protein, buy crayfish!โ
Everyone listened attentively.
Then I interrupted.
โMy own corper will eat fish, eat meat, buy a colour television, buy a video player and live in a flat!โ
The whole place erupted in laughter! ๐๐
โSee this one! You don't even have a place of primary assignment, and you're dreaming of television!โ
But I stood my ground.
Then something extraordinary happened.
One day, my madam sent me to a motherless babies' home in Onitsha.
As the children gathered around me, I felt a strong prompting within:
โGive them all the money on you. Before the end of today, I will make you the richest corper.โ
I checked my pocket.
โฆ130!
That was practically everything I had.
Me? The same hungry corper people were feeding?
Nevertheless, I gave the money.
At about 4 p.m. that same day, Mr Charles Iloegbunam walked into our office.
โWhere is Nduka? You're going to Lagos tomorrow. There's a job for you at Cowbell. See me in the morning for your transport fare.โ
He gave me โฆ3,000!
By May 1998, I resumed at Wonderfoods, now Promasidor, earning a full salary of โฆ12,000 monthly.
From a hungry, homeless corper to earning 60 TIMES the government alawee!
Interestingly, I never collected a dime of my federal allowance.
The NYSC State Director even challenged me:
โEven if you are Abacha's son, why wouldn't you collect your alawee?โ
But the most beautiful part of this story is not the โฆ12,000.
It is what happened afterwards.
Two wonderful men, Nathaniel Iwomi and Tom Amidu, had given me food and shelter when I was hungry and homeless.
I never forgot their kindness.
When my situation changed, I decided that other corpers would not go hungry around me.
At the DMGS corpers' lodge, I began providing about 80% of the food we cooked and all the milk we drank, so other corpers could come and eat.
The corper who once depended on others for food had become the one feeding others. โค๏ธ
That experience taught me something I have carried throughout my life:
Never allow your present hunger to put a ceiling on your future.
Your present condition is not your final destination.
And when God changes your story, don't forget those who stood by you when you had nothing.
Success is beautiful. But success that lifts others is even more beautiful.
That was my NYSC experience in 1998.
What year did you serve, and how much was your alawee? โค๏ธ๐๐ฟ
