my sisters kept asking me why I listen to only the intro of hips don’t lie for the past few months repeatedly and it’s because I do this lil dance in my room and today I finally performed it for them

The National Film Board of Canada was founded in 1939 by John Grierson who invented the term "documentary" The first Canadian fiction films in the 60s, Le Chat dans le sac and Nobody Waved Goodbye, pretended to be docs to trick the NFB for funding. We have a long history of this.

With the popularity of Nathan Fielder, Nirvanna The Band The Show, and Blue Heron, I wonder if the movie of the moment is a new "Kiarostami wave" where filmmakers foreground the interplay of fiction vs. reality in our AI era. The Shrouds and Caught by the Tides are other examples

I wish positivity was more recognized as a quality of resilience. People always think I am naive, sheltered or just naturally optimistic, but it does take much more strength to be positive than it does to wallow
