If the reason why many scholars are imprisoned was because they spread deviant beliefs & Fitnah, Muhammad al-Esa & Saalih al-Maghamsi would be in prison. Instead, one was put onto the council of senior scholars & the other has been made an Imam in Masjid an-Nabawi.

Imam al-Qurtubi رحمه الله mentions a Karaamah that occured whilst he was fleeing al-Andalus after Cordoba fell.
“A similar incident happened to me in our homeland of al-Andalus, at the fortress of Manthur, in the district of Cordoba. What happened was that I fled
