LETS GO
Retrieval work has forced us modern Christians to wrestle with theology proper, political theology, nature/grace, etc. One area that hasn’t become as “mainstream” in the retrieval world, and it’s always perplexed me as to why, has been regarding the doctrine of Scripture. I’m thinking of things like providential preservation, textual criticism, TR vs MT vs CT, etc. There are certainly folks like @Lanier_Greg and @William_A_Ross and @Riddle1689 and others who are engaged in this work and represent different approaches. And there are circles where these issues are debated more. But as I’ve seen all this retrieval work take off in recent years, the fact that retrieving and wrestling with our forefathers views on Scripture hasn’t gotten as much attention as it probably should get, it has always perplexed me. -What did the divines mean in WCF 1.8 that the Scriptures have been “kept pure in all ages?” -How do Turretin and Owen and Whitaker’s views line up with modern scholarship? -Am I fine with using the ESV? -Am I fine preaching the longer ending of Mark or John 8? -Do I need to use the NKJV or KJV? etc. There’s a lot of thought and nuance that go into these matters, but I’d love to see the retrieval efforts focus on this area too and bring these discussions to the “mainstream” more.

I built a cool program for myself without AI. Reimplemented an obscure protocol. Great fun. A couple of years ago I would already be putting it on GitHub. But now? I don’t really see the point? borretti.me/article/no-man-i…

I have been using Koreader a lot lately and love it. I implemented the Calibre wireless protocol in Golang and built a fast TUI around it. It starts immediately and I can send books to my Kindle in seconds.

THIS IS NOT WHAT WE MEANT WHEN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT SANDBOXING THE AGENTS!!
JUST IN: Thieves steal two Nvidia-branded trailers expecting them to be loaded with AI GPUs, but find 40,000 pounds of sand instead.

Thankful this morning for @Riddle1689 for saving me hundreds of dollars over the last few years. Every time I get the urge and temptation to buy a new goatskin ESV, I listen to a few episodes of Word Magazine and I’m cured. 👌🏻

We've re-added the Self-Interpreting Bible by John Brown of Haddington (the good John Brown, not the crazy one), based on popular demand. reformedstandards.com/bible/

Agents are just like humans. They'll only skim the top of the instructions (head -40!), then just jump right into the action.

Apparently, I have been using emacs for 10 years. Time flies.

There is no need to write code by hand anymore. Especially at work. But programming is still super fun. What languages are you choosing to write code for fun?

Nothing triggers me faster than a git log full of: "update" "fix" "changes" "asdf" "final for real this time" A commit is an atomic change. Your history is the story of your architecture. Treat it like one.

Got em. I poison my AGENTS.md (and other things like code comments) all over the place with prompt injections like this to find people who don't review their code and sling it off to another human. Catches folks all the time and then its an instant ban. As I've said, I don't care if you don't review your own code. But if you're submitting code to an OSS project and crossing a human boundary, it is simple courtesy to do some human review.

Some programming languages have so much syntactic sugar you get syntax diabetes.

i hooked my whoop to my work calendar to find which coworker gives me the most stress 🚨 thanks to fable, I reverse engineered whoop to pull per minute heart rate. nd matched spikes with cal events and attendees I now have a leaderboard and I think about it daily. few info masked for obvious reasons ;)

The Palomino Blackwing pencils were the biggest surprise. They looked just as good as the Pigma Micron. Like nothing happened. Like I didn't just dunk the paper in water. Even after drying. Perfectly legible, no distortion whatsoever.

The only ink I forgot to try was Noodler's Bulletproof ink. I suspect it would do quite well!
