Co-founder of @cosmos_spaces, content marketer @infineogroup

Joined February 2021
Hey everyone. It has been a while since I posted on here, so a quick life update. Back in April I joined a company called @infineogroup. I came in as the content marketer, which mostly means I write things, but I have also been building internal apps, and that has been the most fun I have had at work in a long time. The team is genuinely great. And what we are building has not been done before. Not a new spin on an old thing. Actually not done before. It feels like being out ahead of the trail rather than walking one. One thing I want to mention, because a few people have asked: I have not left blockchain. infineo is very much in this space. That has been a big part of my life for the last decade and it still is. If you want to follow along, two accounts worth adding: @JayRogersII, our CEO. Sharp read on where fintech is actually headed. @BobMurphyEcon, our chief economist. He does not hold back. He will entertain you. More soon.

Super happy to be here 🥹
In January, infineo launched an AI transformation initiative across the entire company. At our recent offsite, that work showed up in every talk. Team after team shared tools they had built to simplify their day-to-day, sharpen their work, and help infineo continue to scale. For the credit unions and institutions we serve, that means a partner that keeps getting faster, more precise, and better prepared for what’s next. It all comes back to the people. We’re proud of this team.

Happy International Credit Union Day. It’s been celebrated every year since 1948, and this year’s theme is “Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World.” Hard to think of a better description of what credit unions have been doing all along. Preston and Jim are spending today at APEX 2026 in Uncasville, with a room full of the people who make that true. Thank you to every credit union leader, board member and employee who keeps showing up for their members.

$9 to park for eight minutes, and Bob was glad to pay it. Dr. @BobMurphyEcon on why the parking lot owner was doing him a favor: the price is what kept that spot open when he needed it. A small story with a big point about Henry George’s land value tax.

Freedom Credit Union in Springfield, Massachusetts, is giving October to Rays of Hope. All month, members and neighbors can donate at any Freedom branch to support breast cancer care, research, and patient and survivor support in Western Massachusetts. Every dollar Rays of Hope raises stays in the region. It lines up with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's the kind of thing credit unions have always done well: show up for the community they're part of. This is the kind of credit union story we'll always make room for. f.mtr.cool/o2fbmoqqe6

This is how it should be done: inside the credit union, right next to the member's checking account. Great work by Jed, Chase and the @stcloudfcu team.

Before anyone called it forward guidance, the gold standard was doing it. Dr. @BobMurphyEcon on why tying money to a fixed rule lets businesses plan long-term, without worrying about arbitrary injections of money on top of everything else.

Citi and Coinbase expanded their partnership this week, and the structure of it is worth looking at closely. Merchants that bank with @Citi will be able to accept stablecoin payments at checkout. @coinbase handles the stablecoin side. The payment converts automatically, and Citi settles the funds as the bank of record. The merchant never has to hold a digital asset. The customer does not have to change how they pay. Each institution does the part it is good at. This is how I think it actually gets built. One side is not replacing the other. A bank and a digital asset platform are each bringing what the other lacks, and the customer barely notices the seam. Citi moves roughly $6 trillion a day. A bank at that scale building this into the ordinary business of getting paid tells you where this is heading. It is coming fast, and it is arriving in a responsible way. For credit unions, that is encouraging. The model taking shape rewards trusted institutions that partner well, and that has always been what this industry does best. pymnts.com/cryptocurrency/20…

Our CEO @JayRogersII on a piece from Shyna Mistry Punjani in @CUInsight about what a board should be asking before it adopts AI. His take, and the article, both worth a read.
Anyone who has heard me talk about AI knows where I stand. It is going to be very good for credit unions, and for other institutions as well. I think the ones that move on it will be better off than the ones that wait. Moving fast and moving carelessly are not the same thing, and moving carelessly is what gives moving fast a bad name. Every bad early deployment becomes a story that makes other boards hesitate. Shyna Mistry Punjani wrote a piece in CUInsight this week which lays out what a board should be asking. She chaired a credit union board herself, so she is writing from inside that seat. Her point is not to slow down. It is that credit unions sitting this out will lose ground to the ones adopting it well, and adopting it well is a governance question rather than a technology purchase. I think that is the right approach. Do the work first, then go. cuinsight.com/ai-can-draft-y…

The NCUA released second quarter data last week. Credit unions are in good shape. Assets crossed $2.5 trillion. Net worth ratio moved to 11.42 percent, up from 11.11 percent a year earlier. Annualized net income is running about 27 percent ahead of last year. Strong quarters change what a board is being asked to govern. Capital that accumulates faster than it is deployed is not a problem. It is a question, and it usually reaches the board before anyone has decided what to do with it. The credit unions answering that on their own terms, while the numbers are good, are in a better position than the ones answering it later. cutoday.info/Fresh-Today/Cre…
