I needed to complete this thread by saying: I successfully defended my dissertation on May 29th!
I am so grateful to God for the endurance and resilience to make it to the finish line, but also for a wonderful committee who cares about me!

The U.N. General Assembly has adopted a draft resolution that unequivocally condemns the trafficking of enslaved Africans and the transatlantic slave trade as the most inhumane and enduring injustice against humanity.
123 in favour
3 Against (USA, Israel, Argentina)
52 abstentions
The resolution also seeks to recognize the profound and lasting impacts of the abhorrent regimes of slavery and colonialism and emphasizes that claims for reparations represent a concrete step towards remedying historical wrongs against Africans and people of African descent.

I’m writing my dissertation proposal and I am really being shown what I don’t know…it can be extremely overwhelming.
But still, I have to, and, will endeavor.
That is the tweet.

"I've lost the bloody reference..."
ALT A citation reading: "This figure is from a New York Times article of the period, and will probably show up if you search keywords for "Barge Captain, "1258 dead horses," or "Barren Island," in Pro Quest Historical Newspapers. I've lost the bloody reference, and am confessing my carelessness to the world instead of spending the day looking for the exact piece. Perhaps you could just trust me on this one. If you can, then I thank you."
I’m at #SIGCSE2025 getting ready to talk about some of that difficulties K-12 educators are experiencing when they teach programming in classrooms where there are English Learners (Emergent Bilinguals).
I’ll be in Room 306-307 at 245-3p.
Hope to see you OR answer any questions!

Class(es) still being held in person today, despite below zero ‘frostbite’ weather, is only going to teach me resilience, right? 🥲

Marry someone who says:
“I love you more than your thesis does.”
“Can I help proofread?”
“I’m proud of you, Dr.”
“There’s leftover conference pizza in the fridge.”
“Let’s binge-watch something instead of writing.”
“I got you another extension.”
