ALT Imposter syndrome the persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one’s own efforts or skills. Jezebel’s Creations

ALT Recently, I have been a part of several conversations on the “grading” of handmade dice (ie. A grade vs. discounted B grade). I have recently challenged my fellow makers to discontinue the use of a grading system on their dice for a number of reasons, the most important being that it perpetuates the imposter syndrome that every maker I know suffers from, myself included.

ALT When a maker has to look at their art and decide “would a buyer think this is worth less” because of the sanding scuff on a corner, or a slight indent on an edge from a mold, they are knocking down their own self esteem and pride in the amount of knowledge, skill, supplies and most importantly TIME spent in creating these little works of art. All due to a minor cosmetic flaw that has no impact on the playability of the dice itself. And in turn, short changing themselves by discounting the item for sale.
