Joe Mazzulla says winning isn’t nearly as fun as people think:
“That year we went to the Final Four, it all came together. But that was when I realized that winning is not as fun as people think it is.”
“It wasn’t an easy year. We finished 31–7. But it never felt like that. It felt like we were .500 the whole year.”
“Nothing is ever going to be good enough when you have a responsibility to greatness.”
“Practices were miserable. But the responsibility to winning goes beyond the joys of winning.”
“We lost a game on New Year’s Eve to Purdue, and we got smacked. You would have thought the season was over. And yet, I think we were still top 10.”
“It was a great balance of learning what comes with success and how you have to handle that throughout the season.”

Furman on a neutral floor in Rock Hill in the @TheFieldOf68 showcase will be a great measuring stick to start the season
They are successful, well coached, & have continuity with returning pieces. I love the challenge & growth opportunity on opening night vs a SoCon favorite!

High Point should again be one of the top mid-major teams in the country, and now it’ll be with a new coach in Flynn Clayman.
Furman has already established itself as one of the best mid-major programs in the country under Bob Richey.
This should be a terrific game in a crazy, sold-out atmosphere.

Love this ! Tough, resilient kid, and comes from a basketball pedigree. He will be back to being one of the best Pg’s in the A10.
