It started as a young boy’s dream on a piece of paper; It became a 30 year old man’s reality.
Thank you @AUB_Lebanon for 12 long years of turning a child into a surgeon.

After most abdominal surgery, you DON’T have to:
- stay in bed for days
- wait till you pass gas before liquids
- keep the wound dry for weeks
- avoid lifting for months
- take a lot of opioids
- avoid coffee
Always check with your own surgeon’s advice!
Your Early Detection Checklist:
- Know your normal: check your breasts monthly
- Clinical breast exam yearly
- Get your mammogram
- Know your risk: Family history? Genetics? Ask about starting early
- Lump, dimpling, skin changes, or nipple change? Don’t delay. See a doctor
- Don’t forget the underarms
Share with someone you love.

The old rule of a gold rush, don’t mine the gold, sell the axes and shovels.
The next big economy may be AI, but the real scarcity is going to be truth.
With the massive abundance of information and media, the real gold rush will be verifying what deserves to be believed.

30 years ago today, L Goldman & I coined the term "hospitalist" in @NEJM. I suspected the field would matter; I didn't guess it would be the fastest-growing specialty in US history. To the docs who turned an idea into something real–& now essential–thanks!

The best measure of a leader’s success is what is accomplished by those they trained.
Extremely honored to be the recipient of the Dr. Herbert R. Nassour Jr. Surgery Residency Award.
Dr. Herbert Nassour's vision and lifetime efforts "to make medical care as common as a cup of coffee" is more relevant today than ever.
His inspiring story as a Lebanese-American surgeon and @AUB_Lebanon MD graduate who tried to provide quality healthcare to the racially and economically marginalized people of Texas was documented in "Herb Nassour: The People's Doctor", a short film produced by @KhayrallahNCSU

Dear new interns, this is advice I got from seniors throughout the years, I pass it to you as you start on this journey:
- Med school is over, you are responsible for your own education, no one will spoon-feed you anything, fill your own bucket
One thing living in Lebanon has personally engraved in me is that I no longer take any authority as a source of absolute truth. You give me the facts, the context, and the history and then I'll form my own opinion. Regardless of the potential errors, I'll be more content owning an evolving thought process rather than seeing the world through a lens of inherited dogmas for the rest of my life.

It is expected to have a sense of disequilibrium following major earthquakes especially the aftershocks.
The entity is called "Post-Earthquake Dizziness Syndrome"; poorly studied aside from few reports, mainly from Japan.
In case you feel it, you are not alone.
