I've been having a ton of fun writing songs and resurrecting old demos with the new v6 model from @suno, and it's amazing but also hilarious to notice how the music model starting to have it's own version of "LLM speak". Example: I wrote the melody, chords and lyrics for a Halloween song yesterday in about an hour, and gave Suno a phone recording of me + piano, and then got Suno to turn it into this: suno.com/s/68T7tnEhnPizSlJd. Cut to the outro. I told it to be "restrained", lol. Notice things like super heavy build ups, quick cuts to instrumental breaks, flashy licks, big reverb. All sorts of stuff that I'm sure got RLHF'd into it, and now will show up wayyy too much. Every second of the song is now fair game for some production or arrangement technique you'd normally save for the finale. But still, hats off. This is an amazing unlock for me to be able to turn sketches into something that sounds like a real song.

⌛️ Time to invent. :) Han and team have built a really cool AI patent system that I wish existed when I went through getting a patent years ago. Give them a shout if your company ever wants a patent. Or hell, now that it's so cheap, start patenting more stuff! (defensively only!)
Today, we're killing the billable hour for patent work. Fearn Legal (@fearnlegal ) is a modern patent firm built from the ground up on our own operating system, FearnOS. What that means: → Flat fees, not hourly billing → Drafts in days, not months → Experienced patent attorneys reviewing every application → One platform for your entire portfolio, with permissions you control If you're building something worth protecting, we'd love to help.

Jev is such great counter-positioning to the big labs. They are structurally disincentivized to respond. Everything in their stack... from current revenue sources, to marketing, sales and use cases, to their API shape, scheduling and batching software, billing, data center investments, pre-commitments, research direction, and ASIC development...Not to mention better margins they get if someone solves a simple problem with an LLM. Virtually their whole product and infra stack, plus revenue incentives are geared around autoregressive LLMs. That gives Jev a much better chance of winning. Brilliant job @typesafeai

We made the difficult decision to wind down @heron_finance today. I'm proud of what we built - the first SEC-registered roboadvisor for private markets, 20X growth since last year to $50M AUM, 200%+ net revenue retention - but finding consistent distribution is brutal for new platforms. That's definitely a lesson learned. Distribution is king and only becoming more so with AI. It's been bittersweet seeing clients write in about how much they'll miss it. I want to say a big thanks to all the customers, all our investors, and our amazing team who made it possible. It was quite the ride. As for me, there's a little wind-down work, then I'll take a short breather, and excited to figure out what's next. :)

Before Fable was banned, I ran it against the @arcprize (ARC3) with a simple harness + tools. And it *beat the games*. Step change compared to Opus or Codex. Screenshot from my local dashboard that I was running it on. It beat all of cd82 in 133 moves.

This was in a docker container with no internet access (except to Anthropic, and with web search tools turned off). So it did not cheat. If you watch the replay, it really feels like it *got it*. After beating ls20, it gave this summary. All of it is spot on.

As I have been saying repeatedly, this principle is entirely defensible, and this is the single best articulation of it anyone in the administration has made. The way to enforce this principle is to publicly and proudly decline to do business with firms that don’t agree to those terms. Cancel Anthropic’s contract, and make it publicly clear why you did so. Right now, though, USG’s policy response is to attempt to destroy Anthropic’s business, and this is a dire mistake for both practical and principled reasons.
This isn’t about Anthropic or the specific conditions at issue. It’s about the broader premise that technology deeply embedded in our military must be under the exclusive control of our duly elected/appointed leaders. No private company can dictate normative terms of use—which can change and are subject to interpretation—for our most sensitive national security systems. The @DeptofWar obviously can’t trust a system a private company can switch off at any moment.

1/ Have we already seen AI's killer apps? I had an intuition that technologies basically figure out their killer apps within 1-3 years. Had o1 do deep research. Yes, going back 100 years, radio/tv/internet/crypto. All same. So AI? Killer Apps Analysis chatgpt.com/share/67ea0d00-0…

3/ The caveat to this is that AI is getting so much better so fast, that every few months the capabilities change significantly. One of the key takeaways of the report is that truly new infrastructure or capabilities 'reset the clock' on the 1-3 year timeline.

4/ Seems possible that agents and tool use (ie. MCP) could enable some new killer apps. We'll see, but we shouldn't have to wait long...
