SB19 first P-pop group to be nominated at the inaugural Music Awards Japan (MAJ), stood out as the only Filipino & Southeast Asian act in final top 10 list, competing alongside prominent Asian and global artists like BE:FIRST, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, & V BTS
Replying to @BuzzingPop
Just asking honest questions here: Apart from being Asian, how did these groups perform in the BB charts?
Are they even eligible?
Did they release any song that “contained deep meaningful” lyrics in their native language & “represented their origin”?

The tantrums over the Grammys are loud, but the silence on MAMA and AAA is even louder. You call out an awards system for allegedly excluding Asia, yet stay quiet about awards branded as Asian where South Korean acts dominate the competition. If inclusivity matters, it should apply everywhere, not just when your faves feel left out. Funny how selective the outrage gets when the system you're defending is the one benefiting you.
LOL at the comments and QRTs from THAT fandom. The hypocrisy is actually WILD. 💀
The irony of crying anti-Asian racism while mocking Asian artists for submitting to the Grammys' Asian category is something else.
You're using racism as a shield to mask your frustration over your faves not winning or getting the recognition you expected, while ridiculing other Asian artists who are simply trying to get their music seen on a global platform. How does that make any sense?
You can criticize the #Grammys for its treatment of Asian artists without belittling those who choose to participate. You cannot claim to fight for Asian representation while mocking other Asians for taking an opportunity to represent themselves.
Let's be honest. This was really never about standing up for Asian artists. If it were, you wouldn't be looking down on Filipino artists for trying to bring their music to the global stage. You're bitter that your faves didn't get the outcome you wanted, Grammy celebratory cakes and all, so now you're taking it out on artists who have every right to try.
You don't get to weaponize anti-Asian racism when it suits your narrative, then ridicule other Asian artists for pursuing the very recognition you claim they deserve. That's not advocacy. That's hypocrisy.
And if you're genuinely against anti-Asian racism and advocate for Asian representation, where's that same energy when MAMA and AAA continue to center K-pop, while artists from Southeast Asia struggle to get the same opportunities and recognition?
Oh, right. You're perfectly fine with the system when your faves are the ones benefiting from it. Suddenly, representation isn't an issue when the industry favors your idols. 💀
So let's stop pretending this is about Asian solidarity. You don't get to use that card while mocking other Asian artists. If you only believe in representation when it benefits your own faves, then you were never fighting for representation in the first place. You were fighting for exclusivity, not equality. And the moment other Asians try or get a seat at the table, your so-called advocacy crumbles because suddenly, it's no longer about breaking barriers, it's about protecting your idols' monopoly on recognition. That's not advocacy. That's entitlement dressed up as principle.

From the Philippines 🇵🇭 to the world.
SB19’s “VISA,” submitted for Grammy consideration in the Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, has already made its way to a historic stage as SB19 became the first Filipino group to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago.
Written and co-produced by the group’s leader, Pablo, “VISA” is a catchy track that gets people singing and dancing while shining a light on the struggles people face when their dreams and opportunities are limited by the passport they carry.
A song that brings Filipino stories to a global stage, gets people moving, and sparks meaningful conversations deserves to be part of the #Grammy conversation. 🇵🇭
